Here is my original post….http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/having-my-laparoscopy-next-week
The surgery went well…I don’t remember anything after they took me into the OR. I was in for 3 hours and the doc found severe endometreosis. All over my ovaries, in my pelvis and on my intestines….which could explain my IBS. He removed the polyp/fibroid as well.
The day after the surgery I had a couple of BMs so I guess I didn’t need stool softeners. Also the pain meds they gave me were just ibuprofen. I’ve hardly taken anything b/c they don’t really help.
I also started AF the day after the surgery (she was a day early) and the doc said we can start trying again in a week….if I feel up to it. He said my chances of getting pregnant in the next 6 months are really good.
Darling Husband is super excited b/c he thinks this might have been the reason I haven’t been able to get pregnant…although there is a male fertility factor. The doc said my endo was so bad that I should’ve had this surgery 10 years ago when I was 26 even though my docs told me I was too young then to have fertility issues. But he’s really optimistic about our chances now.
Just wanted to update fellow TTC bees…I’ve always had painful periods (thought it was normal) and didn’t “think” I had symptoms of endo. So I would def. recommend doing a lap if you’re having issues TTC.

I’m so glad to hear that everything went well. I had endo on my intestines as well, and removing it during my lap made a world of difference. Good luck ttc now! I did not have my procedure for ttc purposes, but I have known many women who have gotten pregnant immediately after their lap.

Glad to hear everything went well and you finally have some answers! Are you sure AF that you got isn’t just bleeding from surgery? I bled for a few days following each lap I had which is normal but it wasn’t my true period. I am very hopeful for you! I never really realized what kind of pain I had been in until after I healed from my laps. The feeling is amazing not having pain anymore. I think as women we just learn to deal with weird pains to the point where we think its just normal when it’s not. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

@texasbee: That’s so exciting! My Mother had this surgery about 27-sh years ago (back then it was breakthrough) right before she got pregnant with me and she went on to have two healthy babies shortly thereafter 🙂 I was conceived a few months after the surgery and then my brother was conceived about 3 years later (they waited on purpose). So glad everything went well!

Good for you and thank you for the information! Endo runs in my family and I had fairly miserable periods before BC. I plan on coming off of it this summer, and I am nervous how my periods will make me feel AND scared that I may end up losing a baby.
Anyway, glad you can start TTC again and that there is hope! Good luck!

So glad your surgery went well! I know quite a few people (my mom included) who struggled with infertility and endometriosis, and became pregnant very quickly after having the lap surgery. Fingers crossed for you!!

@mrs.stormylove: When I went for my checkup, the doc looked inside and saw the blood and said it was AF. But just to be sure, I’m doing OPKs starting next week to confirm.
Thanks bees for all the support. After 9 years of infertility, it makes me feel like there is hope having this lap. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have 2 lines on a HPT….Darling Husband is beyond excited and can’t wait to start trying again.
