This is my biggest fear. My SO is in the Navy.

I am sending you and yours the best. May he recover quickly and come home to you soon.

My ex (whom I like to call the one that got away), was in the military and was injured in Afghanistan.  He and I were just friends when he was deployed, but soon after he returned we began a LTR me at home, him in TX.  I honestly thought he was “the one”, but unfortuntely the PTSD took a massive toll on our relationship.  It made him very impulsive, which ended in some infidelity and me getting badly hurt and he used to drink a lot and was depressed and had a lot of survivor’s guilt.  It became just too much.  I live with the regret everyday that I wasn’t strong enough to be there for him when he needed someone the most and to be the link to home and to be who he needed me to be.  I wander every day what could have been and if things might have worked out differently if I just could have held on or if I would have moved there (even though we are both happily married now and I wouldn’t change things, I still wander).  I remember the times that I traveled to Ft. Sam Houston to visit him and accompanied him to appointments at the BAMC, the women and the wives who were so strong and held their soldiers up.  As I sit at my computer, bawling now, I commend all of you, wish you all the blessings and strength in the world and wish that I could have been as strong as you!  You all are amazing women!!!

@niasg1:  Stay strong, dear!  Just remember, the worst has past, he is alive!  The rest of the storm is mere drizzle!

@niasg1:  That’s what he used to tell me when I would get sad or lonely: The storm has past, everything else is mere drizzle…. Cry
