Hello all!
For some reason, I couldn’t log into my old WB account (my3fallkiddos) but I was able to long into this account which I had forgotten about! I wanted to give an update on my wedding set that I posted about under my other WB name (That I’ll delete since this one works now).
http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/would-you-buy-a-pre-owned-engagement-ring-setting-or-wedding-band-from-ebay/
Quick back ground for those that don’t care to clink on the link (but are still curious :)): I wanted a halo setting and found one pre-owned on ebay for significantly less than new, retail from the Jared’ store. The setting was 2 months old and the seller changed her mind but it was too late to return it. I won the auction and had Jared’s size it up from a 5 to a 6, and they put in a new head to fit and set my diamond. I also won a used Jared’s 3/4 eternity diamond band that I had cleaned and polished at a local jewelers, and they made it look brand new again! I was amazed at how new it looked!
But a few weeks ago I started to struggle with it being used. DH started to get frustrated because he loves my wedding set and feels I need to view it as I got exactly what I wanted for a great deal. Basically, he’s happy with it, he doesn’t care that either rings were pre-owned, especially since they were cleaned, polished, and plated to look new again. And he feels I need to let it go and be HAPPY, 100% happy with my rings. Only Darling Husband and I know that they are pre-owned.
I’m still dealing with the conflict and a couple of weeks ago, had to have the shank remade at my jeweler (NOT Jared’s). When Jared’s had sized it up from a 5 to a 6, they just thinned the bottom out, allowing it to possibly bend or break, and it made the ring spin. So, I took it to a highly recommended jeweler who remade the shank and it looks perfect. I kind of feel like my ring has had a lot “work” done on it. π
Anyway, someone had asked to see photos of my rings and I wanted to post some that I took after both rings had been professionally cleaned! One of them I have posted a couple of times already. I want to add… I genuinely LOVE my rings. I get compliments all the time and I just love wearing them. But what’s holidng me back from saying “Yup, I’m done!” is the fact that they were used from ebay. I know, first world issues. π
Thanks everyone!

carrotcake2003: Your rings are beautiful! I love the unique setting of your e-ring, and of course your wedding band because it’s a slightly larger version of mine!

That is a tall ring! Very unique and beautiful.
I wouldn’t care that they were preworn, ice been looking at a wedding band to match my ring on eBay and the vintage part of etsy. I almost had a vintage wedding dress. Used is A OK on my books!

carrotcake2003: Every stone has a history, most of us just don’t know the full story before it gets onto our hand. Your ring is gorgeous and bonus that you got a good deal. I wouldn’t dwell on the back story and let it be your (and wedding bee’s) little secret

Thank you! We bought my diamond new from Jared’s and Darling Husband said that it could easily have been a trade in, and we would never know. Which is true. I do wish my diamond was bigger. My original was a 1 carat princess but the corner chipped, and thankfully it was insured. I didn’t want to worry about another chipped corner so I bought a round diamond. Once of the reasons I love my halo is that its cushioned shape! Anyway, it’s a silly issue I need to get over! π Thanks for the compliments on my set. π

kayvee: When Jared set my diamond I was worried at how high it was set! When the shank was remade, I had the jeweler lower it. It’s much better now and I have learned to love that the diamond sits up a bit higher because so much light goes through the diamond! Thank you! π<br />

carrotcake2003: I absolutely love your set! Your ering is gorgeous, it’s very sparkly and beautiful! I personally wouldn’t mind a pre owned ring, I have bought some beautiful rings from pawn shops over the years and I have inherited some from my grandmother etc. even when you purchase a loose diamond, you will never know if it has been pre owned etc like your husband said. I wouldn’t worry because it belongs to you now and you can then pass it to your children later on if you decide! Enjoy that stunning bling! π

My ring is also from ebay. It’s an upgrade from my original ring and I love that we got such a good deal. I wish I would have thought to look there when we first got engaged and maybe I wouldn’t have had to upgrade at all!

Sorry for the giant photo. I can’t resize with my phone. I also can’t get good pictures with my phone either… It’s from the Vera Wang collection And I paid less than half of retail.
