Sorry to keep everyone waiting – I wasn’t able to post the story until this morning.
And it was!!! I’m engaged! I almost can’t believe it, it feels totally surreal.
My Fiance (hehehe) headed up to the mountains on Tuesday night. During the night, he kept getting up and was tossing and turning. I knew it was probably because he was nervous. The next morning, we got up and drove to the trailhead of Quandary Peak. We saw a lot of people and kept thinking, if there are this many people on the summit, will he still do it? It was a great hike – a bit challenging towards the end, but we made it!! He found a spot away from all the people and we just sat a minute to catch our breath. He kept taking really deep breaths and I asked if he was ok. He said yes, he was just light-headed. Then he came and sat down next to me and told me he wanted to show me something. He said he has loved me from the day we met and we’ve had so many adventures like climbing mountains together. He said he couldn’t wait to climb many more and asked if I would do him the honor of marrying him!
I cried and said yes, but we were pretty brief because at 14,265 feet above sea level, you mostly just want to get down and be able to breath normally again. I was incredibly shaky from both the hike and the excitement of being engaged so we decided to head down. He told me neither of us had to work the next day and he wanted to take me shopping for some new clothes since I probably hadn’t packed extra.
We spent the day in Silverthorn and then headed back to his parent’s house and just spent the evening together. The next day, he took me to breakfast down in Denver, we went to Red Rocks and then we went to Colorado Mills Mall and walked around and went and saw the Dark Knight Rises.
It was the most perfect proposal and vacation I could have dreamed of. Thank you for all your support Waiting Bees – without you I may have gone crazy.
