What is the diamond quality difference? A stone with poor color/cut would be WAY cheaper than a diamond of a better cut/color. If they prize quality in their stones (My Fiance got my ring at Jared’s where they ONLY sell high-quality stones), it’s going to be WAY more expensive than if you get a diamond that looks more like a white sapphire at Walmart.

My 14k white gold band with .5 solitaire cost $700 at a big chain store. BUT, it does have a visible inclusion if you look at it from the side. I am happy with it and would imagine if it did not have it, it might have been closer to a thousand. Now for the stone itself, yah 1500 for a .60ct sounds right. Is it just a simple setting or is it more intricate? The addl cost could be related to it being custom made and the artists’ time.
