Thanks for the post! Good to know. When I went on my honeymoon last year, I waited 6 months. If only… lol

els2016 :  Thanks for sharing, I had not heard about the updated guidelines. I don’t think I’d travel anywhere with zika transmitting mosquitoes still, but it’s nice to know that you don’t have to delay your plans for trying as long now.

Skoneil88 :  Seeing pictures of babies with microcephaly breaks my heart every time 🙁 I do think that there was something else at play in  Brazil since they have had such a high number of cases (pesticides and pollution),  but microcephaly is enough of a deterrant for us to not risk it. Plenty of other places to vacation in the meantime.

ladyvictoria :  I know it’s terrible seeing all those babies and their poor parents. I am hoping the virus is dying out but scientists believe there might be another resurgence soon.

My husband has to travel to Thailand for work once a year making out TTC journey quite long because we have to stop for 6 months at a time. So dropping down to 3 months is a huge boon 🙂 I also cannot wait to get to vacation in the Caribbean again.

Wow, thanks for posting!  That’s great!  We just booked a trip to Costa Rica in late February and had hoped to start TTC again in late summer or early fall.

Skoneil88 :  I’m glad that you benefit from this new revelation! 🙂 I miss the Caribbean as well. My husband proposed in Jamaica and I always thought it’d be nice to go back for an anniversary trip. We went to Bermuda last year and had an amazing time so I’d go back there in a heartbeat.

ladyvictoria :  It does seem worse in Brazil, but there was a recent report looking at Zika virus effects in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.  There are also reports of increased birth defects in areas of the USA that had local transmission of Zika virus but they weren’t specifically looking at those who tested positive for Zika so it’s not known for sure if they are related. Pretty scary stuff though.  I’m going to play it safe and avoid Zika areas til our baby is older than 1 year old as there are some reports of Zika affecting the brains of baby monkeys infected after birth in lab tests.  I know we aren’t monkeys, but it’s still concerning to me.
