We would have waited to do it after we could see everyone in person, but we knew ours was going to be seen online (non-facebook) and we wanted to be able to tell people first. After we showed some family and called the others, we posted on FB.

He had arranged for a little party with my parents afterwards… WHile we were there, our photographer sent us some pics… My DH had arranged for our photog (a close friend) to be there when he proposed. So, we had pictures of the proposal and the photog was sweet enough to edit and send a couple that night! So, while we were on the computer, I put up a status that said “Absolutely!” …Which is what I said when he proposed 🙂 I think a couple hours later, we decided to change our relationship status 🙂 I couldn’t wait any longer!

I’ve been engaged for 13 months now and have not updated it. But I never had my relationship status listed. I actually hate that aspect of FB so I don’t use it. I can’t stand seeing people have a fight with their SO and change thier status to single, then just make up and change it back the next day. I feel that everyone that is important to us knowsabout our engagement and I don’t need to announce it to old co-workers and everyone from HS and college.

When we were first engaged, we were so excited that we started phoning important friends and family right away. We phoned close relatives, such as grandparents, who we then asked to phone our aunts and uncles. We told our immediate family, and our closest friends. The next night, we had a gathering with immediate family to celebrate, and when they all left for the evening, we changed our statuses. I had one uncle that found out from facebook and made smart ass comment about finding out that way, since he hadn’t been home when my grandparents called. He was half joking, and didn’t care all that much though. As long as my immediate family and my closest friends knew, I wasn’t too worried 🙂 I just wanted to share the good news with everyone right away… it had been 10 years in the making!

We called all our family and close friends the night we got engaged, then changed our status and posted photos of the ring! I hate finding out things like this on Facebook, so I wanted to make sure we told everyone first.

We updated it later that day once all of our close friends and family new. I was acutally planning on waiting just in case I forgot someone, but my fi was just so excited he did it that evening!

We waited for just a few days. We wanted to tell important people in person on via phone before they could see it on Facebook.

We haven’t changed it and don’t plan to. Eventually after the wedding, we’ll change to “married.” I read about too many stories of people inviting themselves to the wedding or wedding activities. My marriage and wedding are not for Facebook! (Ok, ok, I’ll probably upload a few pictures afterwards!)

I called/texted a picture of myself with my new ring to my close friends and family, and then later that night, I updated my FB relationship status. I never thought it would be a priority for me because I’m not super active on FB – but once Fiance & I got home from our picnic (where he proposed), I was so excited & wanted to share with everyone. It’s not like I took myself out of the special moment to race to my computer or anything, but I did update that same night. It was fun because we kept getting “Congratulations!” notifications and it just added to our excitement.

“sometime that month”, but I also don’t use facebook that often. Everyone who mattered did not find out about our engagement through facebook, they knew that night via a regular ol phone call.

@araneidae: I updated mine later that week after we had told our closest friends and family. I usually don’t put all my bix on Facebook but I decided this was something worth gushing a little.

I posted a photo of me and my Ering within 10 minuets of getting it! It’s really showed how happy and excited I was to tell EVERYONE. 🙂
None of my family or friends care if they know first or not but that is based on me being 38 and this being my second marrage.
