So… for the last several months, I was convinced that a down / flowy / curly do was the right choice for the princessy dress / castle wedding. However, I must admit that after seeing such amazing up/low do’s, I’m starting to wonder if that might be the way for me.
I’ve been talking with my future step-daughter (who happens to also be a great friend) and we’ve been looking at a number of pics in the gallery to see what we think would look best. It occurs to me that there aren’t many occasions where an updo / low-do is appropriate and welcomed. But my wedding is certainly one of them! I haven’t had an updo since prom (spring of 2002), so I think it could be nice to see it all up again.
But I’m torn.

Its my opinion that you should go with a hairstyle you are comfortable with. If you normally wear your hair up/back, I’d go with an updo. If you wear it down, I’d wear it down. You dont want to not feel like yourself on your day, you just want to feel like a “fancier” version of yourself.

I was torn as well, I really wanted to wear my hair down with some curl because I HATE pictures of me with my hair up. Unfortunately the day of my wedding came and it was so humid out that my hair wouldn’t hold a curl 🙁 I ended up having a low bun updo (see pic below) which I loved the day of, but am not so fond of in my wedding pictures. My husband and I are actually considering getting some more pictures done after the fact with our wedding attire on. He loves the pictures, but I’m still not totally comfortable with them.
You have to figure out what’s best for you. When you go to a special event, how do you normally wear your hair? Chances are that’s how you’re most comfortable. I agree with the previous comment, you want to be yourself, just a fancier version.

After a lengthy discussion with my stepmother, I think I’ve changed my mind and down and curly will be the way forward. I was worried that having it down would mean that it would fall by the end of the day – but as we’re getting married in Austria in March, it’s more likely to snow than anything, so I can’t imagine it will be hot and humid.
I’m intending to wear a tiara instead of a veil, so I’m hoping it will look something like this…
I just figure that if nothing else, I want the photos to show some great hair from the front as well as the back – and I think I can look quite blah with it all up. I’ll have to have some extensions because my hair just isn’t that long, and maybe that will help with the curl and volume as well. Fingers crossed! 🙂
