Beautiful! I love them all!
i love both your upgrades so much!
here is my upgrade bottom left, custom setting and new diamond and bottom right is another custom setting but same diamond…so half an upgrade LOL
i hope some more bees post, I love these threads!!!
My first engagement ring was a 1.24 ct round brilliant on a platinum knife edge band and my new engagement ring is a 2.2 ct cushion on a white gold cathedral band.
I didn’t upgrade rings though, I upgraded husbands
I’m not sure if mine count as “upgrades” … but here goes …
Engagement Ring: 5 stone setting (originally all diamonds, “upgraded” for 18th anniversary to add sapphires). Center stone is around .53 ct or something like that. I don’t remember all the details. I think it’s an H color, and set in 18K yellow gold, with a platinum head for the center stone. I switch bands with it because my actual wedding band is a wider (~6mm) stand-alone.
16th Anniversary: Hubby and I were actually shopping for a diamond and sapphire band, but I fell so hard for this setting. We ended up visiting the store several times over the course of a month or so because the jeweler was ordering in sapphires for us. So we would go to look at the color of them, etc. Each time, I would go right to this setting. Finally, hubby told the jeweler that we were going to go a different direction, and he surprised me with this ring. That Christmas (our anniversary is in October), he picked this flush-set band to go with it. I still love this set together, although I also wear other bands with this ring.
Center Stone is around .90 ct … I think it’s E color. And I think the total carat weight of the setting is somewhere around 2 or 2.5cts — although I don’t remember for sure. I still love this ring. It sparkles like mad in the sunlight!
22nd anniversary: This is my current obsession. And, truthfully, much as I love all my sparklies, this one might remain my obsession for a long time. I had wanted a heart cut for forever — really, ever since we got engaged. Hubby chose round for my engagement ring and for my 16th anniversary ring. For this one, I finally have the heart cut of my dreams. And I was able to go “wild” with the setting, too.
Center stone: 1.52 (I think?) heart cut … K color … and I think it’s either VVS1 or VVS2. 18K yellow gold, which is a throwback to my original/actual engagement ring. Then, a few months later, I asked David Klass to make the matching wedding band. It is also in 18K yellow gold. It’s so funny that I have come full-circle. When we got engaged, I wanted white gold or platinum, and I felt like I was “settling” for yellow gold. Not that I didn’t like my engagement ring. I loved it and still do! Anyhow, now, I find I love wearing the 18K yellow.
I still primarily wear my original engagement ring (3 stone) but got my other two diamond rings over the years 🙂
Don’t have an upgrade, but fun post to see! Such beautiful rings ladies!
My husband upgraded my entire set after our baby was born, and gifted me the rings on my first Mother’s Day (saying it was from both him and our son). He kept the same setting for my ER, which I’m really happy about because it gives me a little tribute to my old ring. I went from a 0.86 to 1.63 carat, and my WB he picked a 9 stone band to commemorate our wedding day which was on the 9th of the month. I loved my original set but love this one so much just due to all of the thought and effort he put into everything! Every time I look down at my rings now I think not only if my husband but also our son. 🙂
