So Fiance wants to upgrade my ring. Like now. Before the wedding. I’m undecided. I mean, this one is mine. I love it.
But thinking about it, I’m wondering if a radiant cut moissanite would work in this ring? I want to keep the setting, I love it and the matching wedding band. I have always loved more rectangular cuts tho. Or just a larger square brilliant moissy? (No bigger than 1c equivalent)
Or should I just tell him to buy me a second wedding/anniversary band to add bling and coverage?
To be clear, my stone now is a 1/3c diamond, this would be my way of getting a moissy lol.

I think your ring is really pretty! Radiant cut moissy shows a lot of body color – I’m not sure if it would “match” with your melee.

Justbrynne: I think it’s really pretty as it is now, so I voted don’t mess with it 🙂

Your ring is perfect the way it is. If you are looking for a bigger look, perhaps a new rhr? I wouldn’t mess with perfection. I love it!

Personaly I have found it hard to change stones/sizes that much and have it look good in the setting. My thoughts are
1) get another diamond band for the other side
2) get a whole new 1ct Moissy is the cut you want in a plain setting that you can wear sometimes or as a RHR
Over all I dont think you should mess with the current ring.

I always vote to upgrade a center stone, but consider that in that particular setting unless the stone was set really high the wedding band won’t have any chance to sit flush to the ering. If a gap doesn’t bother you then I say go for it!

I voted to upgrade for the square moissy.. I think if you want bigger and a moissy, go for it!!

NEAM2014: + 1
Justbrynne: If it isn’t too personal, why does your Fiance want to upgrade? I think that since you are the one who will be wearing it every day you should LOVE it. It sounds like you really love yours so I don’t think you should change it. I think your ring is lovely, delicate and feminine. The set is really pretty together. We upgraded my e-ring so I understand that- but we did it because I wanted something else and Fiance wanted me to love my ring. Maybe if you told your Fiance how much you love yours he would change his mind?
If you decide to upgrade I second NEAM2014 that you should get an entirely new ring. Radiant cuts and square brilliant show more warmth than rounds so that is also something else to consider if you are color sensitive or if you wanted to keep it in your current setting. Here is a thread where a few bees posted their square moissy so you can get an idea of how it looks:
Best wishes, whatever you choose to do!

I love your ring now but a radient cut would look amazing!!!! Do what you feel is right! You could always keep your other stone. I just got my “upgrade” and I put my other ring away, I plan to give it to my daughter someday.

FutureDrAtkins: jag: womanofsubstance: NEAM2014: thanks very much! I think my first choice was always to leave it, but he’s quite persistent sometimes. I’ll tell him to get me a second band if he wants to give it more oomph.
jamiesrichmond: I actually didn’t really think of the gap. I love a gap with mismatched bands but these are a set and I don’t think I would like them with a gap. The setting isn’t low, but I don’t think I would call it high either.

TrueLove407: msformaldehyde: thanks for your votes 😀
dulcevida: He thinks that it’s small and he didn’t spend enough on me. He’s weird that way. He already went over my preferred budget with the set, but justified it by saying it was for the set not just the engagement ring. At the time that he bought it, he thought the job he’s working on was ending within the month so he spent what he could afford, but the company got the next phase, so he has another 3-6 months of double his usual income. He tends to be very ‘go big or go home’
