Have you ever considered moissanite?

I‘m a bit biased, but this is worth reading if you’re wanting to upgrade and not necessarily because you don’t like your ring. If having a ‘diamond’ isn’t the top priority, and you just want something that will wear easier, read up on moissanites.

SomethingBlue1009: Hi!

I think Aqua Marine is lovely but I don’t think all stones and all rings even are equal exactly. Perhaps the clarity on your stone isn’t the best, or there is some facet wear if it wasn’t brand new or the stone was repurposed. The overall effect is pretty but it sounds like you’re not happy. Chances are swapping the stone out may cost as much as your setting is worth, so that is something else to consider. You may be better off with getting a new ring entirely (and keeping this for occassional wear or to pass down for its sentimental value).

As to how .25 and .5 carats look it depends a bunch on cut, setting and finger size!

What size is your ring finger? What cut are you interested in? Would it be in the same setting?

Since I have a morganite, I have the same problem with maintaining sparkle. A soft toothbrush and dish washing liquid (NOT soap) works best! try it out, and see if that makes a difference. If not, there’s nothing wrong with upgrading to a diamond, as long as that’s what will really make you happy 🙂 Good luck on your decitions!

SomethingBlue1009: Cool. I will say, as someone with a little diamond ring myself…sure I would like it to look just as pretty as the day we got it every day. I really would (who wouldn’t?), but it would mean cleaning it every day/bi-daily. They get dirty, that’s just how it is. A touch of liquid soap and warm water sorts it out for sure…but unless you do nothing with your hands…it won’t be pristine all the time.

Follow the link and have a play, I love that you can put in the carat weight and dimensions and it can tell you whether it is facing up well for its weight. Maybe check out enchanted diamonds for a loose stone? You can search by all sorts of quality and many have photos or videos of the stone ^_^
