Both face up larger than a radiant, esp the pear, so I think both options would feel larger.  But if you feel like you want 2ct, you should save up a bit longer, and just go for that.  I am all for upgrades, but better to get what you want each time, rather than settle.

Snapper :  For me I had a .64 carat iolite.  Now I’m moving to a 1 carat moissy with a halo.  So a definite difference at least in color. And it will look different and it’s a definite upgrade.

I think it’s up to you on how comfortable you are in what size you wear.

The fact that you even mentioned it tells me you should just wait for the 2ct IMO.  Or shop around!  You can get great deals on diamondbistro or ebay if you look long enough.  Most people are willing to bargain because they too are upgrading 😀

When I upgraded, I had a mm spread in mind.  That helped my jeweler source just the right diamond for me.  I would look at what dimensions you want, and then go for that.

here is my before and after.  1.07 cushion to a 2.8ct antique cushion.  I went from just over 6mm to 8.6mm.

A 1.6 will look substantially larger than the stone you have now especially since your getting a pear or oval which face up larger than a radiant. A 2 carat won’t look much bigger than the 1.6, So I’d get a great quality 1.6 carat now rather than wait. But I’m a very impatient person lol

I agree with jcent. You can get 1.5 to 1.7ct with the face up of a 2ct. I’m not sure about ovals but I shopped for months for my pear and there are a good amount of them that a spread cut so it will appear larger and also since it’s an elongated shape it will feel a lot larger than a radiant.

for example my pear is 1.72ct and a spread cut so it measures 10.63×6.61. One of the charts I have says 10×7 is 2ct measurement.

I used this site constantly to check the depth and spread of different diamonds http://www.diamdb.com/ and this chart

I’m not sure if this will help but 1ct equivalent pear moissanite vs my 1.72 M pear
