My hubby recently upgraded me from a 1.05 ct round diamond to a 1.51 ct.  While I love the bigger size, I do miss my smaller one.  But good thing he let me keep it so I can wear it whenever I want!  🙂 And yes, it is a significant difference in the two sizes.  I find at times the 1.51 ct seems too big to wear for work and stands out too much.

Snapper :  your welcome! Also, when your ready to start looking, you can ask on pricescope boards for help. That’s how I found my diamond. I was looking for a medium to large culet so it was a little difficult for me to find what I was looking for. My search was 6 months+.

Another thing to consider is price ..buying shy is recommended because you can save thousands. Why pay much more for that small difference? In my opinion (and obviously look at diamond database website because it’s really helpful with visualizing) the difference btw 1.60 vs 2 oval or pear won’t be that drastic.

allthingsthatsparkle :  Thank you for adding  that info. I have learned from observing other threads of this nature that its best to keep your original set if possible…I know I will. This thread has been really informative about upgrades as to how much bigger to go for a noticeable increase and how much shape is a factor.

Snapper :  that would be a huge difference.  If you go to this website , you can compare all stones shapes and sizes. It shows ACTUAL sizes of the stones. You just need to set how big your screen is. I don’t know your ring size so I set it as size 6. Go to this website and enter your ring size and it will also show you finger comparisons. Hope this helped! I love this website

Snapper :  Thank you!  How they look in photos can be subjective because of how close one shoots the ring, but there really is a significant difference in size in reality.  Enjoy your upgrade!  🙂
