@tristianelizabeth:  Congrats on your recent engagement!  I wanted to see pics of your ring and it was easy to find since it was so recent.  It’s absolutely beautiful!!  What’s the model number?

@Kriddlelouise:  I just upgraded my solitaire into a halo setting for our 10 year anniversary. My hubby was fine with it as long as I kept my diamond center stone. Here is a before and after pic. So glad I did it!!

@Kriddlelouise:  Oh dear! I do hope you find it! Even if you do upgrade, I am sure it holds great sentimental value for you both!

My Fiance saw my little diamond engagement ring, thought of me, and spontaneously purchased it…about a month after we first started dating! When he told me to look in the pocket of my coat and I found it, I was astounded. He knew I was not ready for marriage but he said that when he saw it, he thought that it belonged to me…so I wore it for over a year before we actually started to talk about the possibilities of getting married some day.

After I proposed to him (yes, you read that right lol), we started to look for my new engagement ring. We spent days and nights searching for a new diamond in the various databases online until we finally found one that met all of our “new ring” requirements; over a carat, D colour, nearly flawless, signature ideal cut.

But just as he was going to hit the final button to purchase it, I stopped him. I couldn’t do it.

With me, Fiance and I chose my perfect e-ring, but we returned it because it cost way too much for what we were making at that point (1/4 of our combined wages for a year), and we were kind of bummed. So I got my moissanite ring, which I love, but the setting is a bit too plain for me. I plan on upgrading to a Verragio setting in the near future, and eventually switching out the round moissanite for either a radiant or princess cut diamond. The moissanite is beautiful, but the rainbow fire is a bit too much for me sometimes.

@Jasel311:

Absolutely gorgeous transformation! Wow!!

In answer to the original question, yes and no.

No, I don’t ever want to get rid of the original diamond that he gave to me when he proposed because I am sentimentally attached to it. I always will have this diamond on my hand.

However, yes, I would upgrade in the sense that I would consider enhancing it by adding a halo, or by accenting it with a different setting. DH is on board with this and I am considering lots of options right now. Once I am sure about what I want done, we probably will have some custom work done, perhaps in time for our second anniversary later this year.

And yes, I would be more than happy to accept a larger diamond as an  anniversary present many years down the road if he ever chose to do so. The more diamond rings I have, the happier I will be (haha!).

I just upgraded in March.  Similar situation as some of the other bees, my husband and I didnt have much money and he was never really happy with what we picked out.  HE was the one that wanted me to have bigger.  Not that I would have said no. ๐Ÿ˜‰  Here are my before and after:

@Kriddlelouise:  I’m so sorry that you lost your ring!!!  Any luck finding it today?

I don’t think I’ll ever upgrade my ring, for these reasons:

– It’s a 100-year-old heirloom, so it has a lot of sentimental value on top of the fact that the love of my life gave it to me.

– It’s a great size for me – sparkly and blingy without being in the way of my active outdoors lifestyle.  (I wear it all the time so I don’t lose it.)

– We don’t have a ton of money and what we do have, we either save or put towards travel/adventure.  I don’t think I’ll ever want to spend thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry.  I understand that a lot of people have that as a priority, and no harm in that, but it’s not for me.

I upgraded my setting, then after a while absolutely hated it and decided to downgrade lol! I started out with a stand-in e-ring setting, just a regular $100 14K white gold 6 prong setting. We always planned on upgrading, but shortly after the wedding it got ruined by my diamond wedding band. So I had my stone set in a halo setting because I LOVE halo’s, but after wearing it for a while I realized it just wasn’t me at all. My diamond was too big to be set that way and I regretted not going platinum. So finally I downgraded to a solitaire platinum setting with pave diamonds on the side and I absolutely love it. Here is the final ring set:

@Jlee28:  I think your ring is beautiful. I love the double halo/cluster style. It’s not about “stats” anyway!  ๐Ÿ™‚

I upgraded.. and I kept my old ring because even though he spent 2K on it, the store was only offering $600.. I almost cried.. I couldnt let it go. So we just bought a whole new ring- which was good because I could buy a matching wedding band right there. Heres my set. I’m so proud of it ^_^

I expect to upgrade my ring in a few years. We entered into some unexpected financial difficulty and our budget was seriously compromised. I was not willing to put us in a bad financial circumstance, so I simply found a budget ring that I thougth was gorgeous. However the setting is quite thin.

I might just upgrade the setting to something sturdier though. I get so many compliments on my Morganite e-ring, even more than my friends with diamond rings.

Here’s my set:

I am waiting for my upgrade to arrive this week. I will still have my current ring which I may either resize it and go RH with it, or reset for errings and a necklace. My hubby doesn’t care so long as I always have something on that finger. Lol. I do understand for some couples that it holds a very sentimental value and can see both sides. To each his own ๐Ÿ˜‰
