My DJ is throwing in a light package of my choice to sweeten the deal since he’s a little over my budget. I will have a moving starfield on the ceiling the entire night, but he’s given me the choice of either uplighting or a laser light show over the dance floor. I am a HUGE fan of both, and can’t decide which I prefer to use. The uplighting will really accentuate the elegance of our winery wedding, but the laser light show makes me giddy! Because the venue is small, I think the light show could be overwhelming…but my inner raver LOVES the idea of my own personal laser show!

I agree with your reservations about the light show. If you’re in a winery and going for a more elegant feel, uplighting fits much better. I also think it could overwhelm the venue and any guests less excited about a rave style dance floor. If your vibe is less formal and more fun/energetic though, the light show could work.

You’re right, our vibe is formal…uplighting it is!

I am all for the uplighting.

I might get dizzy at a laser light show all night! Uplighting!

The owner of my venue advised against light show because it really annoys people after awhile (she hear complaints from guests). Sometime it shot lights into people’s eyes and no one lights that.

Hmm… my comment was going to be “this is a wedding, not a rave”, but I didn’t realize that might be part of the appeal.
I still vote for the uplighting. I just like the ambiance it creates, and assuming a laser light show is just a short thing?? seems like more bang for your buck

Choose uplighting. When I hear “laser light show” I think “Seaworld Spectacular”. Not good.
