We are considering uplighting or draping the walls and ceiling. CAn uplighting transform a plain not cute room into something nice? I just hate that cafeteria look. draping is going to cost me 1300 alone.. Any ideas ?
Thank you in advance for any advice

Uplighting adds SO much! If you can find a vendor that is within your budget, I would say definitely! OR if your venue allows you to do your own uplighting, you can find some online for reasonable prices, and sell it after your wedding. I found 8 PAR can lights for around $130 new & then I will buy the color gels for about $ 5 a piece. Most of our venue is windows so we only need a few. This is MUCH cheaper than any rental Ive seen.

We got married in a club that was a converted warehouse, with black walls. Our DIY uplighting really made a difference! Here are a couple of pictures.

Yes, do the uplighting! And to further take away from the plain walls, hang things from the ceiling- lanterns, candles, flowers… Here are some pics for ideas:
Crystal balls:

Floral chandeliers:

Or paper-made chandeliers:

Floral “balls”

Candles:

Uplighting is actually pretty easy to do yourself.
I gotta ask, why is the guy in that pic wearing a white dress?
