We’re having our dinner and reception in a tent and we decided against draping since that seemed really expensive. We thought Chinese lanterns would be better, but the quotes we have got from decor/tent companies are $2000! for a 40X200 tent without even lighting them. Unfortunately, we can’t DIY hang/light them given timing of rehearsal, wedding, etc.
Any thoughts on whether uplighting or chinese lanterns or globe lights look better in a tent or are more cost effective?

Personally I love paper lanterns in a tent, I wonder why it is SOO expensive?!? That is nutty!!! How many lanterns are they using?
What about chandeliers? That look is gorgeous, and I would think would cost way less then $2000 to rent them.
In the end, if they stick to that quote of $2000 for paper lanterns, I would go with uplighting.

@AnnieAAA: I think that’s for the tent not the lanterns.

I think uplighting would be most cost effective. It really can transform a space too.
Nice wedding date

I don’t really love laterns anymore. Personal opinion. Seen it over and over again. I love the look of uplighting. And you can change it throughout the nite.

Thanks ladies! Yes, the quote for renting/hanging lanterns seems insane to us as well. Based on what you all have said, I think I am going to look at quotes for uplighting.

If you DIY the laterns it is very reasonable. How would you use the globe lighting? I say uplighting.

i have seen other bees posts about outrageous quotes for lighting as well. they probably do it because they know people want it and will pay the money..it really stinks that you cant just do it yourself. thats what we are doing
