@WillyNilly:  For us Seattle-ites, I totally get being “over” hawaii, which is exactly why we are going to Fiji and avoiding hawaii and mexico like the plague LOL!

For most people, especially anyone that doesn’t live on the west coast, Hawaii is a fantastic destination, and I think you’ll really love it. And which island you are going to also really makes a difference.

ETA: What does him proposing there have to do with you going on your Honeymoon there? Really a Honeymoon is just a vacation but you go alone! My brother and SIL went to FIJI for their honeymoon so we pretty much used that as a place we might go (which we are) and I don’t think they feel slighted over it…

I would LOVE a free honeymoon! I’ve been to both as well and the Bahamas isn’t that much more tropical and exotic then Hawaii, IMO. But just try to be positive and grateful of their gift.

I would love to have a free trip anywhere!!! Due to our finances we probably won’t even be able to go on a honeymoon. I get that it’s not where you want to go but I think Hawaii is gorgeous (never been but from what I’ve seen in pictures) and it’s FREE!! It’s not about where you go it’s about you and your new husband having a good time.

@HisBrideinJune2012:  You’re upset because someone else is going to Hawaii? If the trip upsets you that much, turn it down and pay for a different trip yourself. But really, you’re being a little crazy here.

It would have been nice if they had asked your input, but honestly, not trying to be mean, you kind of sound kind of ungrateful.  The last “free” vacation I had was courtesy of the US Army and was to Afghanistan where I spent over a year in the desert trying not to get shot or blown up.  Just smile, nod, be thankful, take your free honeymoon that any one of us would be more than happy to have.  Make it special in your own way, and take another trip later on that you can plan on your own.

@HisBrideinJune2012:  Awwww, I get that.  But I totally don’t agree.  lol  There are so many different variances of what a vacation looks like he’ll likely not do anything for his soon-to-be fiance that will outshine your honeymoon.  But I understand about wanting to get out of the country.  Totally.  But it’s free…I would just do some research on tripadvisor, get invested in this bad boy, and go have an amazing honeymoon.

@HisBrideinJune2012:  Uh… I’ll be honest I’m not into the whole Hawaii thing but if someone was paying for me I wouldn’t even care if they sent me somewhere in my own state. The fact that someone may get proposed to in your honeymoon location, state, whatever has nothing to do with it being less special. I don’t understand that at all. It’s a year later and may not even be anywhere you are going.
