@Mrs.H2B:  This may sound silly b/c they’re just ultrasound photos, but that is one cute baby! Seriously, I’ve never looked at an ultrasound photo before and thought the baby looked cute, but your baby looks like it has a perfect little head and face.

I don’t have reassurance to offer you b/c I haven’t had any experience with this, but I’ll be praying for peace for you.  HUGS!

@TraLo

1/43 is about .0233 which would be 2.33% chance. Just so you know!

@Mrs.H2B:  hugs to you! Like pp’s have said – the overwhelming chance is that baby is just fine. Like you said – the amnio won’t make a difference to you. Just remember baby has a 98% chance of being just fine!! Sending lots of hugs and prayers !

@Mrs.H2B:  I’m sorry to hear about this trouble. I never heard that small measurements might be a soft marker for Downs. At our 20 week U/S baby was measuring 10 days behind and nobody mentioned anything. Hopefully it doesn’t mean anything for either of us! Watch for my birth story or birth announcement sometime in the next few weeks and we’ll find out how it turns out for my LO.

Two of my cousins and my Brother-In-Law had babies that showed soft markers in their ultrasounds (and one from blood screening I believe), and they were all born perfectly normal. Fingers crossed for you! I went through a scare at 23 weeks of a different nature, and it’s hard to cope with the fact that your perfect baby may not be as ‘perfect’ as you dreamed of. Try and keep positive!

hugs. My girlfriends first baby had a marker of 1/30… turned out fine! and her second baby had a marker of 1/13! again, turned out perfect too! xx  Both kids are in fact off the charts (in a good way) developmental wise 🙂

We had soft markers too, an odd-shaped skull and echogenic (bright) bowels.  Did all the testing including Maternit21 and he is completely fine.  They were also worried about cystic fibrosis with the bowels too so I had that test done, as well.  Now he looks fine but is just small, only 21st percentile but I’m 5’1″ and DH is 5’5″ so it’s to be expected.  Try not to worry too much, I know it’s hard!  The day of my anatomy scan I cried and cried but I felt in my heart that he was ok, and my DH was very positive as well.

@Mrs.H2B:  I’m sorry you got some scary news. Even though the odds for DS are higher, that’s not a diagnosis.  My nephew had a soft marker for DS on his heart at my sister’s u/s and he is a perfectly healthy baby boy.  I’m not sure what risk # they gave her…

Wishing you all the best. No matter what happens, your baby will be perfect and loved!

@Mrs.H2B:  My numbers were actually very low for the 12 week blood test, 1/4000.  They never gave us an updated number with the markers taken into account.  They did say that with my first numbers they didn’t think the risk of miscarriage from an amniocentesis was worth it, however.

@Mrs.H2B:  So wait a min- Your Nuchal translucency U/S looked good (less then 2.3? and the 12 week blood work looked good. And the only thing so far is shorter arms and legs and they are saying increase of downs to 1/43? That blows my mind. If anything would it show that the kid might be really short?
