Depending on the urban area, there might be a local park that would let you have urban and winter wonderland pics.

But if you had to choose between them, it would be a hard choice.

Has your photog done both types of shoots?  Perhaps you could look at examples from his/her portfolio and see if you have a preference or if he/she has one setting that’s obviously stronger than the other?

I had the same vision as you.  Spring pictures with green in the  background.  We were fortunate enough to have our photographer do our e pics on 2 different days (he’s a family friend).  For the first day, we were near a lake like I wanted.  He suggested we go to downtown Memphis to shoot on the second day. My Fiance weren’t too sold on the idea of going downtown, but I’m sooooo happy we did.  Both of us love those pictures so much more!

We were able to shoot in so many different areas and get different backgrounds. All the pictures from the first day look kinda the same. I vote for urban area!

I was worried about this when my Fiance didn’t book our e-pics before the weather turned cold. Instead we’re going to go get them taken inside the local conservatory. That way we can have that lush, green background I’ve always dreamed of and still get our pics taken right away! Maybe there’s somewhere like this in your hometown?

We went for urban blight, since we’re getting married outdoors in a picturesque setting.  Click on my blog to see a couple of teaser pics.
