Well, I lost the battle with this dang kidney stone and I’m scheduled for surgery Friday morning. It’s caused me hardly any pain, but they won’t let it stay in there because it can cause damage to my kidney in the long run. Has anyone had the ureteroscopic surgery done? I know I’ll be given a general anesthetic, but I’m wondering what to expect when I wake up.
Also, the doctor gave me the option of removing the stent myself after a week. Has anyone had any experience with this?

@jayelcee85: Not me personally, but 2 weeks ago, my coworker had emergency surgery – 2mm stone lodged in there. She was in so much pain beforehand that afterward, she felt much better even with pain of surgery. Surgery was on Monday, she went home that night was back at work Friday morning. She said she would have been back Thursday, but the doc wanted to take the stent out himself Thurs afternoon. She was very achy and tired, and stopped taking the percoset after the first day (has some really wonky side effects in the uh, intestinal dept). Good as new now and drinking TONS of water (what caused it in the first place).
Good luck!!! I’m sure you’ll do great!
