Hi everyone,
I’m brand new to this site, so hello! I’ve looked at a ton of the boards with pictures of rings in them.. Gorgeous, and sooo helpful in my search to narrow down my preferences.
Backstory: My bf is working with a family jeweler to find or design a setting for a round diamond, and he’s asked me to show him EXACTLY what I want the setting to look like. He asked me last night and wants me to tell him by Saturday, but it’s already Wednesday! I need your help!!
I am absolutely sure that I want: low-profile cathedral, yellow gold band with 4-prong platinum setting, solitaire diamond.
But there are so many variations on cathedral — angle (concave or convex?), height, thickness, etc. And I’m not so sure if I want a reverse taper or a traditional band where the thickness is the same all around. I know reverse taper can make the diamond look bigger but I want the wedding band to sit flush with the engagement ring.
Can you please post pictures of your yellow gold cathedral engagement rings (ideally with platinum settings but anything will do!)?!?! I would like to see the rings from above and from the side, and especially on a finger itself. If you can also post a picture of the engagement ring with the wedding band, that would be good, but right now I’m just desperate to see more yellow gold cathedrals from above and from the side on real fingers.
Thank you in advance for helping me out!!

Thanks! It was literally the first one I saw at the jewelry store when we went to browse and my eyes lit up. Yellow gold for the win!

futuremrsw26: thank you!!! ☺️ My mom and nana both have yellow gold round Tiffany setting solitaires that I love and tried on every chance I got, so I knew I wanted a yellow gold round solitaire but I wanted something just a little more unique!

Sorry I didn’t see this post earlier. Mine is yellow gold in a cathedral setting with platinum prongs. The shoulders of mine taper very, very slightly, and they duck in between the prongs so the ends are not visible from the side. Almost any band will sit flush with my ring, and when I get a diamond band, a small spacer band will do the trick to keep everything flush and prevent the girdles of the small stones from rubbing the basket. My band is 2.5 mm and my diamond is 1.71 ct.
