MrsRuby: First, are you certain you remember the name of the hotel correctly? It wouldn’t be the first time someone thought they had a reservation at one hotel when in fact it was at another.

If you are certain, can you email the hotel ? “I am sending this email to confirm my conversation of today’s date with your reservation department wherein I was told that I do not have a reservation  at your hotel for the night of  March 8, 2014. I request an immediate confirmation for my records.” That should be sufficient for you to dispute any charges that appear on your cc.

MrsRuby:  is it possible you put the reservation under another name? Your fiancé’s last name, your parents, his parents, etc? 

Maybe you can look back at your credit card or bank statement and see if they put a verification charge (e.g. $1) on the card to make sure it was a legitimate account number provided.
