Id go with the H. Especially since you’re color sensitive

I personally would have gone with the E or F since those are essentially colorless. but since you are choosing between the H and J i would DEFINITELY pick the H.  go for quality not quanity. you will be happier in the long-run. and if you ever want to upgrade your H would be worth more trade-in value wise.

AlyshaAdele: are the certified? Do you have ASETs? What’s the bowtie situation in the stones?

If we are just talking about color, I think you should went with the E or F. Did you look at the J color oval outside the store, in a different lighting?

It seems to me that you might be bothered by the J in the long run. I have a Ring Bearer J but the colour is not so noticeable to me. Mind you, I only have a 0.59 ct lol.

I vote for H, quality wise it’s a very good stone and I think that you would love the colour!

I vote for H if you are color sensitive.  However, if you see both and try on the J and don’t mind the color, go for the extra size!  Just remember that if color is something you care about, you may dwell on it later and try to “find” the color.  H is probably the right bet.

It is easy for us to vote based on our own preconceived notions about colour, but I have seen Js that I wouldn’t go near and Js that were surprisingly gorgeous. Do have the stone placed on a similar setting, just to make sure that whatever colour there is is not enhanced by the setting. It would be dreadful to love the stone by itself and then dislike it in your chosen setting.

But your eye is really the only thing that matters. If you will dwell on the colour and always be looking to see if it is showing colour, then don’t risk it. If you can choose the J and be confident in it, then that’s the way to go, IMO. The way a stone parkles and speaks to you in person is FAR more important than the grade, and it is not unusual for a stone with lesser grades to fare better in a head-to-head competition against another stone. Evaluating the cut on paper only means so much; it is what they eye sees that really matters.
