So me and the Fiance are getting married in September this year and we have decided we want to go to Bora Bora for out honeymoon, but where we want to stay is expensive, so we have decided to wait until our first anniversary to go to Bora Bora, so we will still need a vaction after all of this wedding planning, So we were thinking of a “romantic wedding vaycay”before our second wedding ceremony in St.Thomas VI for the rest of the family. I was thinking New Orleans but I dont think the Fiance is on board for N.O., any suggestions or ideas bees???

There are so many beautiful and romantic places to honeymoon within the US! My fiance and I will also be honeymooning in the US because of his K-1 Visa.
We are going to be relaxing in Lake Tahoe in Northern California… when you say romantic wedding vacation, are you thinking rest/relaxation/pampering? Or more of a sight-seeing honeymoon/vacation?

Sanibel Island or the keys in florida. Georgous islands and not crowded

Well I’m not going to be much help, because before I read your whole post I was thinking New Orleans! I was there several years ago and loved it. The food was amazing, there are lots of great historical tours/sight seeing things to do, and lots of great music. They have a casino too if that is your thing.
For a relaxed and laid back US honeymoon I really like the South Walton area of Florida in the panhandle (Destin, Panama City etc). There are smaller communities in the area that do not have the “spring break” reputation. Lots of excellent places to eat. But if you are not looking at summertime to be going it wouldn’t really be warm enough for swimming in the ocean, but you can still sit on the beach.

I would like to know too. we are waiting 6 months after the wedding to go on our real honeymoon but would love to do a fun weekend honeymoon after the wedding. So far I’ve considered Portland

We just finally booked our honeymoon for Marathon, FL which is near Key West. We’re staying at Conch Key Cottages which is kind if more secluded and more to ourselves than most other places.

I think this totally depends on you as a couple and whether you want to relax, explore, or do city stuff.
- San Fran
- Colorado (hiking/cabin)
- Outer Banks
- Finger Lakes/Upstate NY
- Boundary Waters in MN

What about heading up to our the friendly nation up north? Canada! Toronto is a fun city, and you can visit Niagra Falls too. Veryy romantic.
Also, I think a Napa Valley trip could be fun. Orrrr spice it up and go to VEGAS!

We went to Gatlinburg TN for ours and it was great!

@JenniferWay13: We’re wedding day twins!! I think your vacation entirely depends on the type of couple you are – I would consider a trip to Napa Valley to tour vineyards romantic or maybe a cruise and you can check out multiple islands in the Caribbean. I love the idea of New Orleans because I have heard there is so much to do (and good food!!). I think as long as you are both together you’ll make any place romantic 🙂

It really depends on if you want to relax (like near the beach) or sightsee in a city. If you want to go to a city, definitely check out New York City, Washington D.C., or Boston (East Coast girl lol!). If you’re looking for a more coastal vacation, I highly recommend Newport, Rhode Island. It is beyond gorgeous! Check out Castle Hill Inn: http://www.castlehillinn.com (rated one of the top ten most “romantic hotels in the US” by Trip Advisor for 2012), it is beautiful! If you want to go on the West Coast, I suggest Napa Valley. I went their in the summer of 2011 and it was so picturesque.

I love Charleston. At least two of my friends went there on their honeymoons. I’ve been there several times. There is a ton to do and see there, and you can always go to the beach!

Well, I was going to suggest New Orleans as well, that’s where we’re going! Maybe head up the coast to New England or maybe the mountains? Maybe you could catch a few early leaves turning, and that would be beautiful.

a little of both, pampering will be much needed after all of this stress but we love to sight see and expirence the place where we visit
