Has anyone had a good experience using craigslist.org to find a studio or condo to rent for their honeymoon? I had planned on going to the Hilton, but I love the idea of staying a rental, and not the ones you find on expedia. But there are some great rates on there! I could stay a whole month for the cost of 10 days in the Hilton.I am just wary of getting to Hawaii and realize I was scammed and have no where to stay… Thanks Bees!

I stayed at a place in Hawaii that I found on vrbo.com and it worked out well. I think it’s more trustworthy than craigslist personally.

I would be a little leery of craigslist. My Future Father-In-Law AND Future Mother-In-Law rent a big vacation house every other year and have all their kids familys vacation together. They always go through a website http://www.vrbo.com Vacation Rentals By Owner and they’ve had alot of success with that. This last summer they rented a freaking huge house on the coast of South Carolina that was gorgeous, and we all had a great time. They have rented houses in Colorado, Florida, and at Martha’s Vineyard through there. Never in Hawaii through. I would still recommend going through this site as it is reputable.

Thanks, I have been looking at craiglist.org and vrbo listings will be on there as well. I assume the owner is putting their rental out on every page they can. Thanks for your input!

Yeah I wouldn’t go for craigslist alone. Lots of scammers out there, and there’s no protection for you if you are swindled.

While I LOVE craigslist for many many things…I would be careful about vacations
I say that because a few years ago my mom went thru a whole mess where she was renting a cabin for a week and it turned out the lady was a total scammer and didn’t even own the house
I believe VRBO has a little more safeguards
What island are you going to? We LOVED Kauai 🙂

I’ve used craigslist to get leads on places since a lot of rental places coadvertise but I wouldn’t rely soley on craigslist. Like they might include a link to their website and you can see it’s an actual hotel or they might link to a rental agency and I’ve found some good deals that way but I’d we wary of just some random person for something like a honeymoon.
