I can say my H cushion is VERRRY white!
I can say my H cushion is VERRRY white!
Like others said, you could sacrifice on colour/clarity in order to maximize size, but really the difference between 1.2 and 1.5 carat will be minimal. However, if you love the current stone I don’t think it will be too small with a halo
For reference, I have a 1.01 ct radiant, G colour SI1 clarity that measures similarly to the diamond you’re looking at (6.34 x 5.07) with a seamless halo & 7.5 finger and don’t find the size to be small at all: https://imgur.com/a/AR4RQin
I think it’s important to see a stone in person. i don’t think I would have ever ordered an I, SI2 online. But i went to my jewelers and I was able to look at it in different lights, compare it to other stones with better color/clarity and it just spoke to me. I love the discoball effect it has.
OP, you are on the right track and doing a great job!
That size stone won’t look small at all on a 6.5. I wear an 8.75 and my stone is a 7mm solitaire (1.25 ct round) – it looks very proportional to my hand. However, I will say that even though my fingers are a bit wide, they aren’t plump/pudgy and I otherwise have small hands (overall hand length is below average, with proportionally very short palms and longer fingers), so my hands/fingers tend to look smaller than they are and larger stones overwhelm them. So if you’re concerned about size, take her overall hand size into account too.
Either way, her finger is smaller than mine so I think that size is going to look great, even with cushions facing up a bit smaller. The halo will add a nice extra bit of coverage too. It sounds like it will look substantial without being enormous.
Thanks for you advice all. I decided to go with the original stone. The jeweller has sent me a cad of the design, what do you guys think?
I’ve gone back and asked if
1) it’s possible to make a more seamless design, or if it’s just the renders that make look like this
2) to drop the center stone height a bit as its sitting too high for my liking
3) reduce the size of the band as I’d like something as thin as possible without compromising integrity.
And reply from the jeweller
“The band is currently 1.8mm. I will ensure to remove the taper.
The gaps are exaggerated by the scale and when made will be a lot less noticeable. The shine of the matal and diamonds will help disguise what small gaps are there, giving a beautiful full appearance.
I can understand exactly what you mean, the stone is a tad proud. I will make sure there is enough space for the stone to be set low. The bezel will be level with the tables of the halo stones. This will ensure the centre stands out amongst the stones but is not overly protruding.
The cushion halo example is wonderful. We will aim for this seemless look.
You’re not a pain at all! I commend your interest and attention to detail. We will make sure it is perfect.
I will make those changes and send you the new CAD asap.
Kind regards
Hi there,
I have a cushion cut halo that size and my finger size is the same. The prongs are slightly different to what you are looking at, but otherwise it looks very similar.
My stone is much lighter, but just for proportions, etc., this might be helpful.
Wow thank you so much, that’s great to see. It seems your pointers are much smaller though? Mine were 1.2-1.25mm whatever that is. Think it’s just below a 1 pointer
