Need some advice on the usher situation. We will have ABOUT 100 people in our Feb. wedding. So far we have 2 ushers, one who is my friend from college.
When I told him I was engaged, he asked if he could be an usher. I was going to ask him anyways, so I said ‘yes’. About a month later, I told him what we were thinking for attire, and he said "that’s hot", hehe.
Fast forward about 6 weeks later when I flew to his town for another friend’s wedding. We were talking about the wedding, and he was SURPRISED when I said something about him being an usher. I reminded him of our conversations, and the attire details, hoping to refresh his memory….but nothing. Needless to say I’m hurt.
We usually have fun together. He can be a bit of a brat, but I feel like I have a "big sister" relationship with him, so I get over our drama. (For example, he will tell me if he doesn’t like my outfit.)
What should I do? I feel like we are growing apart, and do not have as much in common as we did in college, when we were the same major. I also worry that maybe he is drinking too much. My dad is an alcoholic, so I am more sensitive than most. He has a lot going on with his career right now, so maybe he is just forgetful with all the training, etc.?
I’m definitely keeping him as an usher, bc I am NOT all about the drama, but I feel weird about our relationship going forward. I’m also thinking of asking a 3rd usher (not sure who) in case he flakes out, which I don’t expect him to do but his recent behavior makes me think he might.
