It’s definitely not too late to ask him.

Our ushers are my 13 & 14 year old cousins. They’ll be seating our guests as they arrive, handing out programs and ushering our grandmothers and then my mom down the aisle.

No not at all weird! Usher is a very flexible position. It can be used to include teenage males of the family, or people you might have asked to be groomsmen but didn’t want too many, or just because you need someone to hand out programs.

Ushers can make sure your parents sit at the front, hand out programs, organise a ring warming, hand out bubbles/rice whatever for the exit… Basically they can co-ordinate whatever you need them to do. It isn’t a giant role. Just give them a quick run down of what you need them to do. I’m sure they’ll be willing to help however you need.

@dynamic_duo: No, not weird at all. I’ve seen ushers of all ages. I just really wanted to incorporate my cousins (more like brothers) into our wedding so the only logical position for them were ushers. My youngest cousin (he’s 6) will be our ring bearer.
