My fiance believes that traditionally, the groom provides the ushers for the wedding. As the purpose of the ushers is to help seat guests, to me it makes more sense if they are split between the bride & groom (because representatives from each side can identify & greet guests for that side). Obviously, we know we can do whatever we choose, but I’m curious if he is correct about how this is done traditionally? How did you handle it?

Our groomsmen did all of the ushering. 🙂

we have 8 usherettes who also helped at the reception; most of them were my friends but a few were from my husbands side.

I dont think it really matters what side of the family they are from. It would help to split though. I am having 2 of my cousins do it bc Fiance has a small family and he doens’t have too many we can depend on to show up let alone early and in a tux!

I’m not sure if there is etiquette surrounding this, but I tried to split it between us (1 cousin of mine 1 of his), but Fiance ultimately said just have your cousins do it, because he knew the only way I could decide between my two bestie male cousins would be to flip a coin or draw a name out of a hat.
