If he’s happy to be able to DJ for you at your wedding, why not? Save yourself some money and stress. I got my break as a wedding designer thanks to a friend who wanted me to help her design response cards, so I can say from first hand experience that if a friend is willing, then take advantage. Lack of experience doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be a good DJ. Just give him a guideline (in this case, a list of "must have"  & "absolutely do not play" songs. In the end you want all your guests to have a good time, and if your friend’s definition of a good time is being the music player at your wedding, then by all means!
