Okay so we have got about 80 people coming to our wedding, 10 of which will be traveling from out of town to attend. I would like to put together small welcome bags for these guests as a special thank you for traveling. I was planning on including snacks, water, tylenol, etc. all the usuals. Well then my Fiance suggested maybe using the extra mini wine bottles we are giving away as favors to fill the guest bags (we will have about 20 extra bottles). Personally I know if I recieved these wine bottles in my welcome bag and then the same wine bottles at the wedding I wouldn’t be offended because to me free wine is great! But as a guest how would you feel if you recieved mini bottles of wine in your welcome bag and the same mini bottles as a wedding favor? (the ones in the bags will be plain bottles but the ones at the wedding will have special customized labels- same brand of wine though for all of them Barefood Moscato)

I think it’s a great idea (even though I’m not a fan of that wine).

julies1949: yeah i originally wanted to do mix of a few different wines but trying to stay within budget we opted to just get all mosato while it was on sale. it ended up only costing us like $1.40 per mini bottle. Plus I know most of the guests there love that wine. And we will be offering a fully stocked open bar with plenty of other wine choices during the actual reception so if they don’t like the wine as a favor maybe they could give it to somebody who does to take home – that’s probably what I would do. I just don’t want all these extra bottles to go to waste when we could be using them (and I don’t think Fiance wants to bring all the extra bottles home for me to drink haha)

I don’t drink alcohol, so it’s a waste for me.

I wouldn’t be offended per se, but I would kind of think you were cheap. I personally would rather get a smaller welcome bag or none at all than one that was clearly made from leftovers

a_day_at_the_fair: the wine would be the only thing in the bag that would be used again. everything else would not be left overs they would be all new items specifically for the gift bags. I could very easily leave the wine out and keep the extras for myself.

I was worried about non drinkers and thought about getting them a different favor but the few non drinkers we invited actually all cannot attend.

future.mrs.koban: I know that and you know that, but your guests don’t know that and seeing something that clearly was a leftover would make me question the whole bag

I would never be offended over free wine! I think it’s a good idea! Although, being the selfish person I am, I might just save the extra for myself 😉

I think it’s a nice gesture that you’re doing welcome bags. I wouldn’t mind getting anything edible or drinkable in my welcome bag, it wouldn’t matter to me whether it’s also your favor or not. Wine is a great idea!

I wouldn’t be offended but I also wouldn’t drink it because I don’t like moscato, waaaay to sweet for me like grape juice. But if your group likes it then go ahead and put it in. I probably wouldn’t even notice that they were the same from the favors.

I’m not seeing extra bottles as left overs. I’m seeing them as order extra for the gift bags and breakage . I think its great cause when you settling in it makes you feel special.
You could add a special welcome message label would be an awesome touch.
