I’ve started making my bouquets today, starting with the toss-bouquet. I used floral wire, then floral tape on top of the wire which worked out well. My problem is that when I tried to wrap stems with the ribbon, there is too much ‘gap’ between the ribbon and the stems, giving the ribbon handle an uneven, sloppy appearance.
Do you think it would be okay to purchase floral clay and mold it around the stems to make the handle more rounded-out and even so the ribbon looks clean and smooth? I don’t really know what else to do because the faux stems are not perfectly-straight to begin with — they are the “Real Touch” hydrangeas and roses and have “natural” curves to the stems which is the problem. I would do it in this order: wire, clay, tape, ribbon.
Thanks for any insight! 🙂
