Ok, we’re officially TTC (yay!) and I just used Pre-seed for the first time yesterday. For those of you have have used Pre-seed before and have also charted your cervical mucus to identify ovulation – were you still able to tell the difference between the lubricant and your own CM?
I’ve been charting CM and temping to avoid for 10 cycles and I can always tell when I’m about to O because I get lots of CM the day before. I’m just concerned that I won’t be able to distinguish between my actual CM, the Pre-seed, and semen when checking in the days leading up to O. Any tips? I’m pretty regular – should I use OPKs to confirm O?

I use Creighton (Mucus Only) charting. After you BD- wait about 20-30 mintues (to give the swimmers a head start) then go to pee. Do 3 sets of kegels and bare down. You will be amazed how much that clears you out. Make sure you do it before 1 hour post BD. Also pre-seed/semen will feel different from you CM.
OPKs will never confirm O- they only tell you when your hormones are surging (which often leads to O but not a guarentee)- not that O has actually happened. You can verify O with adding BBT temp taking (the whole cycle) and looking for a temp shift.
Congrats on starting to TTC!

@pretzel: I’ll try the kegels next time. I remember reading about that in TCOYF, but I was a little skeptical that it would actually work.
I understand what you’re saying about the OPKs, I should have been clearer. I meant I was thinking about using OPKs to confirm that O was coming, just in case the CM is confusing this month. I’m going to give the OPKs a try. Thanks!
