Using same chairs at ceremony then moving indoors to reception?

futuremrscaribou :  After our ceremony we asked our guests to grab a chair or two if they were able and move them inside to the reception.  Not ideal but that was how our venue always does it.  We had hired staff to help with set up but I don’t think two people could have moved all of the chairs quickly enough (160 chairs).

We thought about doing this, since we’re doing a DIY backyard wedding. I didn’t want guests to move theor own chairs, but FH’s dad insisted it was silly to rent double the chairs and that he and some other guests would just move them all from the ceremony to reception space.

Ultimately we decided against it because of logistics and photos. I assume our photographer will take some pics of the reception setup prior to the ceremony starting (like details shots) and didn’t want the pics to be chairless.
