@headoverhighheels:  I had a false negative last year.  I was so mad because I told the nurse practicioner that it happened before and I know my body.  I drink so much water and took Cystex so I feel like it diluted everything and it made it seem like there was no infection.  I had to beg for a prescription from the doctor that I work with so I didn’t end up with another kidney infection.

If they send it to the lab, they are checking white blood cell counts and/or doing a culture to see what bacteria are present–AZO isn’t supposed to affect those things.

You might be fine–Last year I was absolutely certain I had a UTI, went right in to my doc and the test came back negative. The symptoms went away on their own within 2 days, nothing ever came of it. You might just have had the symptoms for another reason–even having rougher/more frequent sex than usual could cause some sensitivity/discomfort.

On the other hand, like PP said, maybe it was a false negative and your urine was really diluted or something. It’s probably good that they are going to do some follow-up to see what’s going on.

@headoverhighheels:  If the symptoms seemed relatively mild, maybe it was a yeast infection? The first time I got one I thought it was a mild UTI and when the test came back negative they swabbed for yeast and yep! That was it.

@headoverhighheels:  Sounds like a UTI to me.  The bloodwork will confirm if you have one or not.  It’s another way I had to find out as well.  Only took another week.  Ah, sorry.. makes me angry still.  Hahah.

That happens to me all the time.  Luckally (or unluckally?) I get them fairly frewquently so I have a prescription ready at all times.  But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had symptoms and they have said “You barely have one”.  Tell that to my screaming bladder!
