I think I might be getting a UTI. I know I had one a LONG time ago but dont remember what I did to get rid of it. The only symptoms I am having is a constant need to go pee. What can I do? Do I have to go to the Dr? If so, what can I do in the meantime for relief?

Take cranberry tablets to prevent this from reoccuring again. If you can buy dipsticks for urinalysis from a pharmacy, do so. That way you can monitor yourself. If you have trace blood and above and leukocytes then you have a UTI.It’s best to go to a dr. and get antibiotics. If you leave it too long it damages your kidneys. You’ll know that it’s gotten worse when you start urinating blood.
Don’t sit in a crouched position for too long, because this puts pressure on your bladder especially when it’s full causing more damage. Try to refrain from putting pressure on your stomach, like tight jeans.
DRINK HEAPS OF WATER TO FLUSH YOUR KIDNEYS AND PREVENT FURTHER BACTERIA ADHESION.

Drink lots of cranberry juice. Make sure its not the cranberry cocktail, which has a lot of sugar. If you cant find an actual cranberry juice without sugar, you can also take cranberry pills. This might help you if you are at the early stages of the infection.

Are you constantly peeing or just have the constant urge? Do you feel any burning or discomfort?

@juliasoko: I have had some pee everytime I have gone but not much. I dont feel any burning but I feel uncomfortable, that constant urge to pee feeling.

I guess the cranberry juice and water wouldn’t hurt you either way, although it doesn’t really sound like UTI. You may want to schedule a doctor’s appointment to see if there are other causes for your constant urination. Check out this website which mentions some of the possible causes: diabetes, pregnancy, ovarian cycts, etc.

You might not have it bad, that’s why I suggested the dipsticks. Stick with the cranberry and water. Good luck!

Ok this is something I am all too familiar with I used to get them all the time I will tell you how I stopped that too but for temporary relief here’s what I recommend..
You need to go to a doctor and get meds and whipe this thing out before it moves to you kidneys thats no fun.
This is going to sound really weird, but what I would do for temporary relief is get a washcloth and run it under hot water and then hold it against myself down there, for whatever reason that always provided me a good bit of relief. I would stand in the bathtub and just run water hold, run water hold until I felt better. Always worked for me, anyway.
Also, they make pills that totally take away the pain of a UTI but they turn your pee orange, and if you have taken them they mess up the doctors test to see if you have a UTI so get those after you see a doctor.
I know someone already said take cranberry tablets but take cranberry tablets. I take them every day with my multivitamin and b.c. I used to have terrible re-occuring UTIs but once I made the cranberry an everyday thing they stopped.
Also for prevention, always try to pee not just after sex but before. I found that not going before, was more of the problem than not going after for me personally.
Good luck, I sympathize with you UTIs are no fun! Get well soon

The best thing for a UTI is to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. And to help prevent them in the future, pee right after having sex.

Ugh, I used to get these all the time.. they’re terrible! I agree with what other PPs suggested. I drink lots of water when I feel one coming on, and that helps. Also 100% cranberry juice. You can get it from trader joe’s. It tastes gross, but it’s good for you! Mix 1/4 juice with 3/4 water and drink several of these! If the pain/ urge is still there, go to the doctor. I always always pee after sex.

I got a UTI on my Honeymoon on a cruise ship in the middle of the Atlantic. I pretty much just drank cranberry juice and a few gallons of water and it eventually went away.

Cranberry juice gets a vote from me also. I was getting them constantly now I drink a ton of water and a glass of cranberry juice pretty much every day, haven’t had one for over a year! Also I hated cranberry juice lol, now I love it!

UTI’s are the worst! I used to get them all the time until I realized how to prevent them. The best thing you can do is tons of fluids (water, cranberry juice) and don’t fight te urge to go.
