So we’ve been married almost 4 weeks and I have no idea if we are married or not. After a lot of googling I cant figure out if, in VA, we have to go back to the vital courts and pay to get a certificate which may or may not have processed yet or if something should be mailed to us.
Any VA bees have an idea? I have the day off tomorrow so I could go downtown so I can start the process of legally changing my name but I dont want to do so if it hasn’t been processes yet!
Help!!!

Yes, you are are married, as long as who ever married you (ie priest, Attoney, etc.) returned the completed license in already. It is available within minutes of the completed license of being returned. You need to go to the office and pay $5 to get a copy of your certificate.

No you have to go to city hall to get it yourself. I think you can also mail in a form and check too if you want.

You’re Welcome! Good Luck with all the paper work now. I can’t wait to be Mrs. but not looking forward to all the paper work and running all over to do all the name changing.
