Pretty ridiculous rule. The only people who can vacation together are married couples? Friends can’t go? Why does a vacation as a group mean the unmarried couple has to share a room or have sex? Religious claptrap, really.

Yes, they’re being ridiculous because it’s a ridiculous rule, and, no, we don’t have to tolerate people’s irrational perspectives ever. So you have the right to be annoyed by it. But can you do anything about it? Not really. I think your fiance should support you and choose not to go, but that’s up to him.

Nevertheless, you guys are adults–go on your own vacation. The last thing in the world I want to do is go on a vacation with my mother. Lord, help us all.

Pretty tactless and nervy of her to come stay in your family home, where your boyfriend has been graciously welcomed to stay for the summer and is included in everything, and make a point of inviting just him on vacation. Is this how you welcome your FDIL into your family?

TBH I’d think a little bit less of my Future Mother-In-Law. I’d still try my best to have a nice relationship with her, but it would be something I’d remember (not just the exclusion, but the nervy tactlessless of excluding me as ‘family’ while her and her son were enjoying the hospitality of my family).

Also curious to know how your FH reacted to your exclusion.
