I’m going on vacation to Key West in May!!! I’m sooo excited! sun, beach, relaxation! What do you girls do with your ring when you go to the beach? I got engaged on December and haven’t gone to the beach with it yet. I’m scared i might lose it or something. Do you leave it on or just leave it at the house? Also, I’ll be taking it on my trip.. is it safe? any comments and suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!

Personally, I have a fake ring I take on vacation. I wouldnt want to wear it to the beach where I could lose it in the sand/ocean, but I would worry about it if I left it at the hotel. So I leave my real ring at home tucked away safely, and I bring my fakey with me. Some may say this is overkill, but I’m a really big worry wart so I know I wouldn’t be able to relax & enjoy my vacay if my ring was at the beach or in the hotel.
Eta: my ring is covered under my home owners insurance so I don’t think it’d be covered if I lost it on vacation. But if its in my house and there’s a burglary/fire, then it’s covered.

Well, since my house has been broken into in one of the safest neighborhoods in the state (seriously, even the cops were shocked when we called it in), I would never leave it at home. Unless you’re going to be building sand castles and digging your hands in the dirt, I think the ring is pretty safe on the beach. I’ve had mine on in pools, snorkeling, scuba diving, on half dozen beach vacations, hiking, etc. I feel its safest when it’s right there on my finger as long as it’s sized right.

I’d take it with you but leave it in the safe in your hotel room while you are out on the sand.

I only ever take my ring off when I’m cleaning. I hate not wearing it and always wear it at the beach:)

Yes, I would absolutely wear it to Florida. A third world country, maybe not. If it’s loose, you could leave it in a safe while swimming or something but if it’s snug I would never take it off.

i always take my rings on holidays. if i don’t want to wear it when i’m snorkling or something, i leave it in the safe. my ring insurance covers loss wherever i am but it has it’s own policy, it’s not just added onto my home. check with your insurance on this.

I just went on vacation and left my ring at home – I was so paranoid about losing it. I’m paranoid about it getting stolen too, but I think I would be more devastated if it was at the bottom of the ocean. I also think it’s covered by our home insurance (honestly, not 100% positive). I think my fiance felt better about me leaving at home too … I wore a Claddagh ring on my right hand instead (also given to me by him). It’s not like it made us any less engaged – but I did miss it!!
I like the suggestion of buying a fake one … Any suggestions on where to look @PrincessBride27: ?

I have a stand in set for vacations but I’ve worn mine to the beach 8 times so far without any problems. I also wore my rings on our honeymoon in the Bahamas, in the water/sand and all. My rings have been to Disney World, Hersheypark, Knobels Grove, in the lake, on hikes in Gettysburg… pretty much everywhere hehe. I have 2 beach trips coming up in May and in June and this morning my Darling Husband said I should wear my stand in set so I might be leaving my pretties at home this time, though everything they have been through I don’t see the difference. At home I keep them in our safe. =)

I leave mine at home – I bought a plain sterling silver band that I wear on beach vacation. Trust me, you will be so glad to swim without worrying about losing it.

i plan to get a fake. i’m too nervous with my real ring to begin with (it’s got an heirloom diamond), so i’d definitely leave my real one home or in a safety deposit box/safe if i were going on vacation somewhere.

I leave my ring on no matter what! i have big knuckles and small fingers, so my ring maybe loose but it does not fall out cause of my knuckle…but if my ring was not as snug, I probably would take it off in the water (ocean, pool is ok)

I’ve always wondered what other ladies do. I’m in that predicament right now but I think I’d also leave it at home in safe because it is insured. Another reason to get the wedding band! Buahahahaha!
