So my boyfriend and I are taking a weekend trip to a chocolate showcase over Valentines weekend. It should be a nice much needed weekend alone and I’m hoping we spice things up a bit.
Do you and your SO typically change things up on Valentines or weekends away? Any suggestions on how to make the weekend exciting or interesting?

Last valentines we ate and slept. Haha nope, we do zilch. I am sooooo jealous. Sounds utterly wonderful.

We never really do anything for valentines day, neither DH or I like the idea of a fabricated holiday and when we were dating our anniversary was 2/8, so it seemed dumb to do 2 big romantic things back to back just because the calendar said we should.
BUT, when we go away for a weekend I usually try and pick up a new piece of lingrie or something to show off.

We usually don’t do a ton on Valentines Day. This will be an interesting change!

We don’t really do much for Valentine’s, because we usually can’t get any extra time off, and prefer doing something more special over Christmas/New Years, our birthdays, or our anniversary (in October atm). Also there are 5 bdays in March in FI’s family (including me) so we don’t always have that much money after buying all those presents 😛 So we’d rather do something nice for my bday when things are not massively overpriced, and then just have a nice dinner or go to the cinema on Valentine’s Day.

I’m definitely excited to say the least. We haven’t had many opportunities to get away.

I guess we don’t get much into the sheer commercialism of Valentine’s Day but we at least do wish each other on the day. We seem to regard it as something for the younger set and those trying very hard to impress each other i.e the unmarried or the just married.
That said it worries me that some folk only make an effort on that one day. What about the other days in the year? Gifts and obligatory sex on birthdays and Valentine’s night aside, why not practice some of the Valentine’s sentiment of loving, making an effort and being extra-considerate every day of the year?

A chocolate showcase! yum! What a good idea!
Usually we don’t do much, a nice dinner, flowers, sex. Last year I went a little crazy and set up a sexy valentines to surprise him. We stayed at Hard Rock in Las Vegas, picked up in a hummer limo, dinner was at an awesome steakhouse, then bottle service at a nice strip club. We had some lap dances and the girls flirted with us, mostly him though! Then back to the hotel for gambling and sexy time! It was so much fun! This year will probably be a romantic dinner at a nearby nice restaurant.

i dont see it as a “younger” thing to do.. I’m 27 and my partner is 41. We both love Valentine’s day.. But the kicker is.. We do special things for each other through out the year….that being said…
we don’t save love making for a special day… Spice it up all year!

The last two years we went out to our favorite sushi restaurant. We just give small gifts, sometimes, or just chocolates. Not sure what we’re doing this year. A chocolate showcase sounds fun!

We’re going to one of our favorite BAR-B-QUE restaurants and exchanging gifts. 🙂
