I was never much for Valentines Day before but since this is our first one married, I want to do something special. I was originally going to book a nice weekend away but then I decided to save the money that I would spend on that, and buy him the iPad 3 for his birthday when it’s said to come out in March. Instead, I got him a gift that I know he’s going to absolutely freakin’ love!

Darling Husband is obsessed with all things Apple (the company, not the fruit). He’s been a loyal user for 15+ years and it’s his dream to someday work for them. His favorite logo is the Apple rainbow that hasn’t been used in years. If you can even find stuff with the rainbow logo, it’s normally pretty pricey since old Apple stuff is highly collectable. Well, I found a rainbow poster (circa 1980) on ebay and spent last night in a bidding war with someone who apparently wanted it just as bad as I did. I won the auction and am now the proud new owner of a $100 poster (yikes!). I didn’t really want to spend that much but it’s worth it, both as a collectible and because Darling Husband will love it so much. I’m going to have it professionally framed and try to hang it up in his office before giving it to him

As for how we’ll celebrate, I’ll probably just make a nice dinner at home. We don’t like to go out on holidays like V-Day or New Years since everyone and their brother are fighting for dinner reservations. Instead, we’re going to go out for a nice brunch the Sunday before at a fancy hotel. The food is to die for!

Aren’t newlyweds too broke to do anything special on Valentine’s day?? haha

I’ll probably just get him a card if anything. He likes to get me flowers regardless of holidays, so he’ll probably get me some for V day but I know florists are really busy at this time so it doesn’t matter. My birthday is a couple days after so we’ll probably go out to dinner with DH’s daughter as a Vday/Bday celebration.

I’ve always celebrated Valentine’s day (even if single, I’d do candies for friends or something)  but I don’t like to go out for dinner on the actual day.  I just find you don’t get the same service or quality of food you’d normally get because it’s too busy.  I prefer to go out to eat a little bit before or after (avoiding the weekends surrounding the 14th).  Instead, we’ll probably have a special meal at home with some gifts.

Good call on the husband cards though!  I’m looking forward to that now too.  Sometimes I pick up a card for V-day and sometimes I don’t, now this year is a definate must!

@Gemstone:  I love that about the “Husband” card!  I am excited be able to do that too.  My husband got my a birthday card that said “wife” and it made me all giddy.

I think Valentine’s Day is fun.  I think I’ll probably try and think of a special dinner to make and we can have a candlelit dinner at home.  I have a groupon to our favorite frozen yogurt place (it’s one of those places with tons of toppings and you can put on as much as you want) so I think we’ll go there for dessert.  I’ll have to look up that game of love on Pinterest Laughing

@panterapeach:  me neither! we’ve never done much for Valentine’s Day, but I think I’ll get him a mushy card. I’m sure all the restaurants around here will be packed, so we’ll probably wait until our dating anniversary in March anyway:)

Besides, BFF and SIL are both due this weekend……the next couple weekends may be spent visiting new moms and their babies!

Maybe I should “accidently” leave this thread open for Darling Husband to read while I am making dinner tonight.  Maybe, just maybe, he will get an idea. Hint hint babe….Kiss

@Gemstone:  I should edit that previous post. BFF just texted me from the hospital! Anytime in the next 24 hours!!!!!!!!!! I’m excited, is it obvious?!

Oh, and BFF’s birthday is actually Valentine’s Day….so there’s my relevance to this thread!
