- Wedding: Hawksnest Cove Beach St John USVI
Darling Husband and I are writing this recap together because after the wedding he wanted a peak at the site that stole all my plannig time and he said he loved the community :).
Our wedding went off pretty perfectly! When I woke up it was a downpour and my phone alerted me to a flash flood warning and I totally stressed! It’s the driest month in USVI and even our minister told us not to worry about wEsther, but my stepmom and I had to get to the hair salon and couldn’t find a cab and it was raining! It finally stopped and we found a cab!!
while I was getting ready Darling Husband had arranged a gift bag of mimosas (and mock tails for my stepmom who doesnt drink), a single rose, and a heartfelt card. He had already given me a diamond necklace to wear for the ceremony and I had given him cuff links with his father who had passed pictures in them to wear.
Our musician was amazing, the photographer made me feel like a princess, and the hair and makeup team almost forgot to charge me because they wanted to get photos of me in my dress even though The wedding planner was rushing us.
Darling Husband and I had an amazing ceremony and when we did photos he tried to dip me but waves crashed and I ended up in the ocean!!! The photographer took a photo then rushed to sabe me, my hair, and make up! She assured me the photos would go on and they would be beautiful so I didn’t even stress for a second. We laughed and our guests thought it was fantastic since we are known to be a bit clumbsy. The wedding planner was more upset and said we couldn’t ride back in the private car so I said fine my grandparents will ride back in it and I’ll ride in the shuttle. My grandparents loved getting out of a just married car after. 58 years of marriage.
Our reception was casual but fun with a huge custom menu that we designed ourselves. everyone had an amazing time and loved that we spent time with each guest.
If I could change anything about our wedding it would all be in the planning stages! I had 2 pairs of shoes but never bothered to change them as no one saw my feet anyway. I could have gone in slippers from the resort and been more comfortable! I didn’t wear my anklet or garter but no one saw either so no stress anyway.
We did lose my phone and our temp marriage license on the cab and Darling Husband had to return to the other island on our first day as husband and wife to rescue both, so I would say maybe I’d change that, but a man who is willing to take 2 cabs and a ferry to rescue you in paradise is a keeper 🙂
