We are using man about town entertainment. Mike is a really upbeat person, and fun. They also have a photobooth that they can set up as well.

@groovinbride:  You are the first wedding date twin I’ve seen on the boards! 🙂 Where’s your venue?

@physicsbride:  Like @groovinbride I also heard about Man About Town and he seems really good – good energy and fun! I’ve also been at two weddings where they used DJ Sage. I’ll have to look for his contact info. His prices were REALLY reasonable, definitely the cheapest I’ve found (again I’ll have to look up the rates). I’m also looking into another DJ whose name is Vincent Chung. He did my friends’ wedding a few months ago and he was really good but he’s not sure if he will continue DJing next year… he just does it on the side.

Out of curiosity what were Dynamic DJ and Gary Robertson DJ quoting? I’m still trying to find a DJ for our wedding too!

I very much like DJ robertson… he plays very typical “wedding music” line dancing, and the chicken dance and all that cheezy stuff- yes he’s “upbeat” but I don’t need an upbeat DJ I needed a DJ to play good (which is def. a subjective term) music.

I went with a guy who does not a website, but is primarily through word of mouth only.

It REALLY depends on what you want for entertainment. See now the DJ is nobody but a music player to me… I don’t someone calling out funny, entertaining things to the crowd to lure them to the dance floor, I don’t want an MC none of that. I wanted somone to stand behind the table and do exactly 1 thing: play music, and strictly music that I want to hear (or rather NOT play the music I despise) I hate techno, I hate hate hate this new poppy house remis shit they play these days. So I’m extremely picky which is why I can never go mainstram DJ because mainstream plays mainstream.

So if you feel the same way I do- I will hook you up with the email if you like/ desire a very typical wedding DJ then you’ve got your guy already!

@physicsbride:  I work wedding banquets frequently and it all sounds the same. They might not play the song you SPECIFICALLY put on a do not play list, but generally speaking you’re going to get the very typical “wedding music” which is absolutely fantastic if that’s what you’re going for… unfortunetly I don’t like “typical wedding playlists”.

I would very highly recommend John Felice of Complete Music from Coquitlam. He did an AMAZING job at my wedding!

We got music/videos for just over $1,000. My music tastes are a bit off beat, and he was able to come up with a great playlist. When guests started requesting songs that were off what we had discussed, he came and found me to make sure I was okay with him playing those songs.

He was interactive with my guests and was able to keep the party going all night. I had so many guests tell me they have never danced at weddings, but they did at mine and also had many people tell me they have never seen a dance floor so consistantly packed at a wedding!

@physicsbride:  Okay so that would be just over $1200 then including tax? The DJs I’m looking at are each about $800 incl tax for 8hrs 5pm-1am. I’ve seen both of them at weddings I’ve been to and they were both good at gaging the crowd but not being intrusive (they just played music, no shoutouts or crowd pumping, anything like that). That being said I guess they play more mainstream music? They have consultations to see what you like and don’t like but I guess it depends if you like mainstream or not!
