Hello! Has anyone here successfully had a VBAC in NYC? I had a C-Section with my daughter and just found out I am pregnant again. I am looking for a provider (midwife or OB) that is VBAC/natural birth friendly. I was not thrilled with my OBs last time around and would like to maximize my chances for successful VBAC. Any recommendations?

beatrixkiddo : why did u have a csection? I’m debating a vbac for myself….first pregnancy had a csection after pushing for many hours. Baby was too big and never made it thru birth canal. All good vitals. I opted for csection after 3 days of labor. My uterus needed a procedure during csection because I overbled so for this reason not sure if I’d want to opt for scheduled second time or risk pushing again and end up in csection.

giaf1 : It was a combination of reasons for me. First, my water broke before I went into labor so my cervix was not ready. I was put on pitocin and after many hours never dilated more than 5CM. My baby was occiptal posterior (head down, but facing my belly) which makes it harder for the baby to decend. Because my water had broken, they needed me to deliver within roughly 24 hours of my water breaking due to infection risk. I spoke with my doctor who said that the circumstances that gave rise to my csection are no more likely to occur in my next pregnancy. Assming that I remain low risk when I approach labor/delivery, I will attempt a VBAC.
