We did a few nights in Vegas after the wedding and it was awesome! We’re not really lay on the beach people (plus being in Texas, we’d both been to the caribbean and mexico plenty of times) and I’d never been before. We stayed at the Aria and it was just wonderful, we indulged in couples spa treatments and sampled lots of room service. Check out the dessert shop on the casino level…you will want to marry the chocolate cake. We saw a Cirque show, Zumanity, that’s 18+ only and topless, very honeymoon appropriate. 😉 There’s so many amazing restaurants around town and by mentioning it was our honeymoon we got all kinds of perks. We also took a day trip to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, it was QUITE a drive but totally worth it. We really didn’t do a whole lot of gambling actually, but it didn’t matter because there was other stuff to do!

What happened with Carnival cruise ships?

When I went to Vegas 5 years ago, I was in love with the Mandalay Bay.  The Luxor was really nice too.

I, personally, did not get much out of Vegas.  I was just tired of walking around looking at all of the hotels.  Plus I’m not a gambler.

What types of things are you into?

@Nikki1920:  You can’t go wrong with the Bellagio or Wynn! I’ve stayed at both.

@Nikki1920:  my husband and I booked our honeymoon thru Carnival and our trip was canceled less than two weeks before our wedding!! We decided to go to Vegas and we had a blast!! We stayed at the Luxor and it was awesome no complaints at all. We booked thru Southwest and it was pretty cheap. Make sure you check out a few shows and look at groupon for Las Vegas we found some really good deals on there. Take comfy shoes and get a bus pass its $8 per person for 24 hours!! Well worth it. If you have any questions fell free to ask.. We just got back on Sat so it is still pretty fresh lol

@Nikki1920:  No, I’m horrible keeping up with the times.  I can’t remember the last time I actually watched the news.

It sounds like Vegas will be perfect for you!  Go for it!  Let me know where you decide to stay.  We didn’t have a lot to spend at the time, so my husband (boyfriend at the time) stayed at the Sahara.  I would NOT recommend that one.

we are going to vegas too. we are and have stayed at planet hollywood – is centrally located on the strip, awesome mall attached, and is young and good priced. only down side is the pool – its pathetic. if pool is important – mandalayn bay pool is amazing.

we dont gamble and just had fun walking around.

@Nikki1920:  I went with 2 friends a couple years ago and I’m not a gambler or drinker but still had a great time there shopping and going to shows. The best show I saw there was O which is a cirque de soleil performance that is partly in water which is on the stage…it was amazing I highly recommend it!!! We stayed at the Stratosphere hotel when we went but it is a bit too far from the strip for my liking and if I went again I would stay at a hotel right on the strip like MGM or the Bellagio. I’m trying to convince my fiance to go after our wedding since he has never been but we will see if he agrees or not lol

I was married in Vegas last year and I thought it was great.  I actually had a horrible experience at Caesar’s and will never return.  If I were to go back I would stay at the Cosmopolitan.  Everything between the venetian and planet hollywood is basically the main drag.  I couldnt believe how far mandalay bay and the stratosphere were.  Do not be fooled the strip is long!

I recommed seeing Zumanity.  Mesa Grill was really good.  I had such a hard time deciding where to eat.

There’s plenty to do there but I wouldn’t stay more than 4 days – that’s about all I can handle in Vegas.  I’ve been a handful of times so maybe the thrill of it is just gone for me but I’m just eh about it.  It’s fun for a girls weekend but I just find it annoying sometimes – since everywhere (including pools) are so crowded!  It’s just not my scene anymore.  That being said, It wouldn’t be my top pick for  US honeymoon location but it really depends what you’re interests are and what you’re looking for in a honeymoon.  You definitely won’t be bored!  I’d personally go for Napa or Key West.  I’m sure you’ll have a blast in Vegas, too though!

We had our Honeymoon (and got legally married there by Elvis!) in Vegas. We dont drink and I think we gambled $200 tops. We had a blast. I wish we had a few more days to go on the Grand Canyon tours. We stayed at the MGM for a few days then moved to the Flamingo (stay in the, I think its called the GO rooms). If we went back, we would prob stay at the Flamngo again. MGM was nice, but seems to be geared towards partiers more. Flamingo had more of a resort/cruise feel to it.

Just walking to and through the hotels can take several days! Dont forget to see the Downtown area at night.  Take a gondala ride at the Ventian

I think it would be fun.  I would stay 4 (full) days if it were me…by then I’m usually ready to leave.  I love Vegas.  You could relax by the pool and spend time in the spa or go a little wilder and go gambling and to some shows.  Then maybe you could rent a car and drive to California or something?  Not sure how long you were wanting to be gone!

I would stay at the Wynn, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, or the Venetian since I’d want a nice room, spa, and pool for a honeymoon. I think at the Cosmo and Bellagio you can pay extra to have a nice view of the fountains.
