Ok Bees, my fiance and I are looking to go to Vegas on our honeymoon in early May. Neither of us have ever been there but friends have told us to stay away from Circus Circus and Stratosphere (basically anything on the South strip).
Any suggestions on places to stay that are still nice and that won’t break the bank? We are paying for everything ourselves so our honeymoon budget is around $1500.

Circus Circus and Strat are north of the strip actually. If you want to go cheaper, I’d suggest MGM. It is supposed to have a great pool.
I loved the Wynn, and I’ve stayed at Aria and am going to Mandakay Bay in a couple months but if you want to go for more than a few days those might be over budget, depending on how you get there.
If you can afford it, I absolutely recommend the Wynn – best vacation ever!

@Pinkmoon: I second the Wynn or Aria… amazing!
More affordable options may be the Mirage, Mandalay Bay… definitely stay away from Circus circus LOL! Not honeymoon material 😉

@magglemay-2013: Cool! We’re doing Vegas too! We are doing a honeymoon registry, so we will hopefully be spluring and staying at the Venitian! 🙂 If the rooms there are out of your budget, i’d consider the MGM or the Signature at the MGM is very private, however there is no casino at their main level floor you would have to take one of those flat escalators or “people movers” thingys. it’s not bad it doesn’t take long at all, just not right at your main floor. Another place is Treasure ISland, they re-vamped it and it pretty nice! 🙂

I’ve stayed in New York, New York and Treasure Island- both were inexpensive and nice – TI is on one end of the strip, NYNY is closer to the middle. I haven’t stayed in Luxor, but I really want to – I think a pyramid room would be so cool!

Mirage and TI are both fairly inexpensive, both nice properties, and in the middle of the action. Excalibur is a decent step down as far as price and it’s not at all high-end, but it’s in a decent location and won’t break the bank. Flamingo is also pretty middle of the pack price wise and is a decent property.
ETA: What are you planning on doing while here? If you’re going to be sightseeing, partying, and gambling the room isn’t all that important. If you’re planning on spending most of your time in the room spending, erm, quality time together, spend more on a higher end hotel.

I recommend staying away from Excalibur, Luxor, and MGM. I suggest Treasure Island, Mirage, or NYNY. If you find more in your budget- the Venetian and Bellagio are very nice!

I honestly have no idea what the price range is, but I really liked the Palazzo! Aria and really nice too, and when we’re taking a budget trip we usually do Monte Carlo. You’ll have a really fun honeymoon!
(fwiw, the brunch buffet at TI is pretty awesome…bottomless champagne is included 😉

I’m going to Vegas for my honeymoon. Staying at the Cosompolitain, so excited!! I’ve also stayed at Bally’s which is nice. My parents love the Paris, and highly recomend it too.

Our favorite place to stay is the Wynn! It’s amazing to have a room on one of the top floors with a strip view – the entire wall opposite the bed is windows! I also love the Bellagio, but I’ve only stayed there once and it was in the Penthouse Suite (for my bachelorette), so I’m not sure what the normal rooms are like.
When I don’t like to spend as much money, I love TI – great location, reasonably-priced gambling, and nice rooms (w/ a mini fridge!). The one thing I will mention is that when I went with my friends, the pool was a crazy party with a DJ and tons and tons of people drinking and splashing and dancing. My experience at the Wynn has been much more relaxing, which is what I want when I’m at the pool!
I’ve never stayed at the Venetian, but my friends who have absolutely love it!

Darling Husband and I are going to Vegas for a late honeymoon/anniversary trip in 19 days!! We’ve never been to Vegas before, but are staying at TI. We basically chose this hotel because of the awesome deal we got (3 nights + airfare for 2 from the midwest was about $680 or so).
If price was not an issue, we’d be staying at Bellagio.

@magglemay-2013: Wynn is amazing. Yeah it can be pricey, but we found a great deal when we went in 2009 and it definitely didn’t break the bank.

I absolutely love Mandalay Bay, they have the best pool hands down. Wave pool, lazy river, lots of hot tubs and regular pools too (even a topless one if thats your thing.) It is on the end of the strip, but they have a tram that takes you past some of the other hotels.
I have also stayed at the Venitian and Palazzo and those are both very nice too.

Last year, I booked through Jet Blue vacations, and got 4 nights at the Mirage and airfare for $650/pp. This was in the summer though, when Vegas is a little cheaper.
I’ve stayed at Mirage, TI, Flamingo, and Planet Hollywood. I didn’t like PH. Their pool s*cks. So does TI’s. The pool at Mirage is amazing, and the Flamingo has a nice adult pool. Overall, I liked Mirage the best, but Flamingo is good if you’re on a budget.
Obviously, if money were no object, I’d stay at Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, or Cosmopolitan.

Monte Carlo is in a great location and runs great deals. Try the Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian, or Mandalay Bay if you are going for fewer days or can swing a bigger budget.
