I am a vegetarian and have been for awhile now. I am not vegan so I do eat eggs and cheese. My baby shower is still 20 weeks away but I’m a planner so I am already thinking of menu, decor, theme, etc. I am helping my sister throw it. It will only be family and a few close friends as this is my second baby but DH’s first. I want to have a meat free shower so here is the menu I have so far.
Subway Veggie Sandwitch Platter
Fruit Tray/Veggie Tray
Vegetaraian Baked Beans
So Bees what do you think would you be ok with that menu? Do you think my meat eating family will be able to find something they like among these meat free choices. Also any other menu ideas would be greatly appreciated 🙂 They shower will be a Dr. Seuss theme.

@MarryMeTiffany: I think between the pasta, fruit, and desert everyone will definitely be filled. Let alone the chips and dip–one could fill up on that easily =)

@MarryMeTiffany: I think your ideas are great!
However, have you thought about brunch? I also don’t eat a lot of meat and this was a great way for me to make sure everyone enjoys themselves and doesn’t notice there’s meat missing. Who doesn’t love breakfast, pasta, and salads?

I think these are great choices!

I think this is just fine. A lot of people are moving away from eating meat so much anyway, and plus with this menu you’ll keep costs down. Awesome choices! And congrats on the baby 🙂

I like it! I think people will be fine with a vegetarian buffet! Personally I would probably not do baked beans, as the others seem to be more finger food and baked beans don’t really go with pasta salad?
I really like crackers with hummous. Beetroot hummous is gorgeous and is bright pink! It looks super cool and lots of people always comment on how cute it is. Especially when it’s topped with cress or something – it looks really swish!

I think you’ve done a great job of coming up with your menu. If you’re not trying to feed them a whole meal and just going for gnoshes, you’re all good.

Sounds yummy! I think that menu sounds perfect.
If you want other ideas, maybe veggie pizza squares (the kind with cream cheese), mini quiches, spanakopita (with pasturized feta).

I would be able to find plenty to eat there!

I think those ideas are good! 1 other thing if you wanted to add would be tortilla pinwheels. All they are is tortillas and some fruit cream cheese wrapped up and chilled in the fridge, then cut up in slices. Those are always hits at parties here….although tortillas can be hard to find in places other than the SW. lol But your suggestions sound good!!!

I eat meat and really do not miss it when I am given a lot of yummy vegetarian choices…I actually prefer it. Good ideas!

I’m a carnivore and I’d eat everything on that menu. Give me some pasta or fruit and I’m good to go.

i agree. i love meat, but i wouldn’t think anything of it not being on the table when there is pasta, fruit salad, etc.
