Looking for your input – I am wearing a La Sposa ivory strapless a-line lace gown – no train. We are having a beach wedding in Hawaii in May. I was thinking of wearing a pair of wedge 2.5″ flip flops and they come in ivory with a white orchid, or ivory w/ a violet orchid. I am trying to decide between a short (elbow length) veil, or wearing the veil w/ flowers. Hair will be done in an updo. Is the veil and flowers together tooooo much? Maybe a white or violet orchid? I don’t want to overdo it and like a simple classical style, but since it is a tropical wedding, i can’t help but like the fresh flower idea, but hate to give up the veil concept.

I had a beach wedding and I’m so glad I didn’t have a veil. It would’ve been a disaster with the wind.

I agree that a veil on a beach could be pretty unpleasant. I’m getting married in July in the Bahamas and thought I’d do flowers in my hair but then I went on Etsy.com and found some beautiful beach wedding hair accessories. I love this one in particular and will order it: http://www.etsy.com/listing/81488939/seashell-hair-vine-or-seashell-bouquet
I don’t know if I’ll also do some flowers…depends on what I find for flowers when I’m there before the wedding.

I will be on a beach and wearing both. My hairpiece is ‘flowers’ made of feathers. I’ll wear a fingertip length veil over, and then just have the hairpiece for the reception.
A good friend was married on a Cape Cod beach with a veil and it was beautiful. I think wind + veil is gorgeous, as long as it’s not hurricane strength.
EDIT- found this photo from when I went to try everything on. My hair is a mess but you get the general idea! (sorry the photo is enormous…kept trying to resize it but no luck)

@dickinson: Beautiful. i agree that a little wind w/ the veil can be very pretty. I was thinking I would get it, and if it turned out that the wind was too strong, i could alwasys easily take it off and just have the beautiful fresh flowers. We are gettiing married in Hawaii, so wind could be bad, coul dbe no problem – i figured i would just the day ahead while i was having my hair done. Just not sure if i am overdoing it w/ both, i fthe wind wasn’t bad. I also wasn’t sure what kind of veil to go with a lace a-line dress – a think a tulle w/ silk piping, as lace on the veil might be too overwhelming.
