I have a three-tier fingertip veil for my ceremony, but I’m not sure what to do during my reception, esp. since my reception is tiny (14 people), so we are really just sitting down to a formal dinner (no dancing or anything). I think it might be weird to keep the veil on…but I’m not sure what else to do.
Any suggestions? I think I’m doing half up/down, but I’d consider a headband, if I could figure out how to do that with a veil.

If you’re that uncomfortable wearing the veil during the reception, I don’t see what’s wrong with taking it off and just replacing it with a headband. I bought a headband just for the reception because I couldn’t wear the cathedral length veil I wore during dinner and dancing. I gave the head band to my maid of honor who held it for me until I was done taking formal portraits. When it was time to go in for the reception, my bridesmaids helped me put it on.
It’s also possible to wear the headband with the veil, but that really depends on what the overall look is going to be. For me, I found it was better to keep the veil and headband separate.
You could also maybe opt for a fascinator or a pretty hair comb for the reception as well.

I’m doing a cathedral length veil with blusher for the ceremony, a birdcage veil for the begining of the reception, and then for the majority of the day I’m doing just the headpiece from the bridcage (it’s detachable, and will look something like the one below).
I wish I could wear the cathedral for part of the reception too because the blusher is detachable so we can take pictures without it bunched over the top of my head but I think it might get in the way or I’d have to drape it over my arm which defeats the purpose of wearing it.
I love the idea of having different looks throughout the night, but I’m only wearing one dress. I love it too much to take it off. So I decided to do 3 or 4 different looks with different veils and different shoes.

Our wedding will have 20-30 people at it. I’m having a fingertip length veil as well but taking it off and putting in a pretty hair flower. You could just switch over to a headband or fascinator for the reception though.

I just took off the veil for the reception. I had pretty hair pins in the updo.

I will wear a cathedral veil for the ceremony and then plan to change into a bird cage for the reception.

So, it isn’t that difficult to take it off and put something else on? I guess Ithought it would be a pain, but if you girls have done it, maybe I can handle it, too!
